"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cliff Hotel. Staff were great - attentive and helpful. Our room was in need of refurbishment (carpet had iron burns for example) but clean and comfortable. The sea view rooms all look on to a huge pipe which is from the extractor fan in the kitchen. It’s noisy but is turned off during the night until about 6.30am. We kept the window open for ventilation but once the fan started….. Food in the bar was excellent and the service fantastic and can’t be faulted....

"The hotel was immaculate and had a very high level of interior design throughout. Rooms were very modern/ stylish. Bathrooms extremely clean. Hotel food was exceptional. Staff were very friendly. Right on the riverside with extensive outside seating areas. We stayed three nights. Excellent."

"We had a comfortable stay. Room was nice, especially the soft furnishings. A few minor niggles. Some of the public areas were a bit shabby (it’s an old building) and there was apparently a problem with the drains at the bar toilets. Service was good - very friendly and attentive. Food was decent and good value (especially curry night). Breakfast a bonus with a choice on offer. Vegan and vegetarian no problem at all. We had been before years ago and would stay again."

"Overall a good place to stay, central, convenient, great food. A few minor "gripes! however...no table or bench on which to put case, on the floor is not the best, the kettle is impossible to fill from the only tap, had to use a glass and fill that way! Beds are rsther hard too."

"Great welcome from our lovely host, and sad that we had to rush back home, could have stayed a few more days. If you want a nice friendly atmosphere and lovely cooked breakfast, then Gable End is the place to stay. The owner made us feel very much at home, and we shall call again most certainly soon. Breakfast was cooked and served by a lovely man who did not keep us waiting and served us as you would expect from a good hotel. Room was nice, new carpet laid down and comfy bed, nice view of the...
