"Overall this is a lovely hotel. The room is great and the bed is the comfiest I think I’ve ever slept in. The shower is excellent and the staff were very friendly. The food and service in the restaurant were five star but the restaurant itself was a little chilly so we had to keep our coats on while we ate. The TV in the room was only picking up a weak signal so it was pixelating all the time and one of the handles on the window was broken and so couldn’t be opened"

"Had a lovely stay at this hotel. What a beautiful setting, the grounds were impressive and the location means it’s easy to hop onto a bus into York. The on site pub was convenient after a relaxing visit to the spa. My room was in a quiet location with lovely views. The only negative was the room was a bit chilly on waking. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Very friendly and helpful staff. I would stay here again."

"We are from Australia and have been travelling around all the UK for a month, this is the best accommodation as far as facilities in room and restaurant/bar that we've stayed in. It is the only place we've stayed apart from cottages that had there own kitchens that had a fridge in. The only negative thing we can say is the other patrons coming in late at night early/ morning were very noisey and when they slammed there doors it was very loud, this could be fixed by installing soft door closers...

"I was there for half a week to explore York after a business trip to the UK. The hotel was good and the staff excellent. Breakfast was pricey and really not worth it. Go to the coffee shop across the street instead or into the old city for a good breakfast at a reasonable price."
