"Yet another great stay at the Castle. Rooms always warm and clean but if you want operating theatre cleanliness this is perhaps not the place for you! We love this place for its character and of course the peacocks. Staff always friendly and helpful. See you again in a few weeks!"

"Very welcoming. All the staff were top class Single room clean, quiet and comfortable for a good night’s sleep. £10 choice of several enticing breakfasts. Only six minutes walk along the front to the theatre. Parking on street is charged from 10am-4pm, wasn’t a problem for me. I’ll stay here again on my next visit. "

"Ian and his team have a beautiful hotel, in a beautiful location. We only stopped over for one night but were really impressed by the attention to detail. We aren't dog owners but this hotel is dog friendly. They called us as we were travelling up from London to advise us reception closes at 10.30pm. Rooms, decor and cleanliness are great. Breakfast was too. Highly recommended."

"We stayed at The Ship for a special wedding anniversary. It’s an exceptional hotel in a wonderful area which has a unique atmosphere. The hotel food is good with a menu that changes over the seasons. The breakfast is very good and there is plenty of choice from pastries and cereals to full English. The rooms are well furnished and comfy and the tea, coffee and biscuits topped up daily. For bird watchers the estuary is worth a visit and in the room we chose the hotel thoughtfully provided...

"An enjoyable stay, use of the spa being free as a guest, 2 hour booking having the spa to ourselves was extra special, weather this be the same if hotel was busy, spa pool was quite small would have been quite full. Staff friendly and courteous. Highly recommend the Coctails, a little pricy, reduce to £9 as £13 bit steep, we would have had more.! We ate in the restaurant great choices nicly presented. £9 for a dessert again a little pricy. "

"Lovely room. Splashed out on a sea view room, which we really enjoyed. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast almost beat me! Veggie sausages were available on request. Great start to the day. No complaints whatsoever. "
