Quiet and serene yet conveniently close to the area's most beloved attractions, this comfortable mountain cottage is a place to experience the best of Banner Elk. In the winter, you'll be ideally located for sledding, tubing, and skiing at Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain; come summer, you'll enjoy world-class hiking and mountain biking, great breweries and wineries, as well as nearby festivals and concerts.

Cook up a big meal in the fully-equipped kitchen, or grill on the deck for dining al fresco. Relax after a day of fun on the covered patio or the spacious deck, and really elevate your vacation by soaking in the private hot tub. You will love this home with a cozy fireplace, and a gorgeous sitting room with stone walls.

There are so many area attractions you will never run out of fun things to do. From anywhere to half a mile to four miles drive you can visit any of the local wineries and breweries, go hiking, sledding, skiing, and tubing, horseback riding, or explore the gem mines, museums, and don't forget all the great restaurants and local shops.

So happy with this choice (I had saved about 14 options), it was just delightful for two people. Quiet, comfortable, nice deck with a lovely view. Our first day was rainy and we were still treated to sitting on the covered deck. Some time we’ll be back and walk the trails. I was sad to leave.

We had a great weekend vacation at the Potato house. It was very clean and ready for us when we arrived. The wifi was a little quirky but it did work. The heated bathroom floors was a nice feature, the ladies really loved that. All in all it was a quiet restful weekend and we enjoyed the stay there, would definitely stay at the Potato House again.

The deck on the house overlooks grand father mountain. We just loved spending time out there enjoying the Mountain scenery . Its a wonderful mountain getaway.

Clean, good location. False advertising with the hot tub being listed in the title of the property then immediately after arrival we were told that the hot tub is not an amenity for guest use. This was a requirement in our choice of property and we would have absolutely not rented this location had they updated their listing.Multiple items did not work. The dishwasher was broken, the TV in the main are did not work, we had to buy batteries for the remotes. The fireplace downstairs did not work and the heating system doesn’t reach that area. This resulted in the downstairs unusable due to temps below freezing. The hot tub was also not working (when we reported this, that is when we were told that it was not for guest use).The communication of property management was good from booking to check in. After that, the response has been very poor.

The Potato house is a charming but modern cabin with beautiful wood decor and decorative lighting The views are beautiful. The property manager was helpful and prompt with small issue of batteries for remote. The neighborhood is very quiet. It was a very restful stay.

This is the third time my wife and I have stayed there the last two with friends. The house is perfect for a couple of couples and close to plenty of wonderful things to do. We have enjoyed all three of our trips there and plan to go back in the future. We recommend the house to anyone looking for a quiet peaceful beautiful vacation.

This property had everything we could have wanted for our 4 day Anniversary getaway. Hiking out the back door, soaking in the hot tub or relaxing by the fire pit all made for a delightful time. The kitchen was well stocked and we made great meals on the grill. Thanks so much!

It is our happy place, otherwise we would not try and book it as far in advance as we can afford. Looking forward to the time that our spring trip can be expanded into two weeks. The Owners (and property manager)are absolutely the best.
