The Chalet, Schull

A small cosy Chalet set in the grounds of an 18th century Georgian Hunting Lodge. Rock Cottage Country House is situated on The Wild Atlantic Way and is an ideal spot for exploring West Cork
Schull is just a 10 minute drive away with numerous boutiques, pubs and restaurants, art galleries, library and good food shops plus a weekly market on Sundays. We are also only ten minutes for the villages of Goleen and Durrus.
Also near by is The Mizen Head with numerous beaches including one of Ireland's finest, Barley Cove.
Guests will love being surrounded by nature and all our beautiful animals including hens, ducks, ponies and a donkey. We are also dog friendly and have two golden retrievers.

Outside guests can roam around the 17 acres of grounds, hillside and visit the animals. From the top of the hill there is a bench where guest can sit and enjoy the 360 degree view over the hills and Mount Gabriel.

A wonderful hideaway

A perfect spot for long or short walks and brilliant for me as I was catching up on some creative work which was completed in the calm and peaceful surroundings of West Cork

Lovely quiet retreat

Luxury cabin in the grounds of a country house. We were made very welcome by our hosts. Excellent bathroom with really hot water and a well equipped kitchen. Outside we could walk all over with our dog and it was great to climb to the top, have a drink sitting on the bench admiring the stunning view. viewviewvview.

Cozy cottage on beautiful property

Cottage was perfect for a couple. Hosts were super friendly. Most importantly Saffron and Elsa, the welcoming dogs were a delight. The horses and donkey also make this a special experience.

Very nice little chalet

Very cute little chalet in a wonderful garden. The host was very nice and helpful. The surrounding is very attractive but you need a car to go places. Beautiful Barley Cove Beach is roughly 20 min drive. Don’t miss the short hike to Three Castle Head.

A piece of heaven

We loved our stay in the chalet. It was idyllic. Jackie and Jonathan were great hosts, there when we needed them but never intrusive. The chalet had everything we needed and more. Sitting having breakfast in the company of the donkeys was our piece of heaven. We couldn't recommend Rock Cottage more strongly.

Rock Cottage Chalet

The location needs more than 5 stars. A beautifully quiet place with bluebells everywhere. Extensive paths through the grounds where the dog could run free. A peaceful and stress free time. Jackie and Jonathan were friendly and helpful but never intrusive.

Beautiful property in a gorgeous location

We had a fantastic break. Jackie was was a friendly and helpful host. We were free to explore the extensive grounds- the views are spectacular, especially at sunset. The chalet is lovely. Very comfortable with everything as pictured. A little slice of paradise! We were visited regularly by Elsa and Saffron the dogs and enjoyed our evening strolls to visit the ponies and donkey. The surrounding area is stunning - there is so much to see and do. We enjoyed daily sea swims and exploring the coastline. We can't recommend this place highly enough!

Little Haven

It’s magic, really, we didn’t wanted to leave because there is just so much more to explore; J&J have such a wonderful way of making sure u feel at ease
the ponies and the donkey and the dogs and the chickens and the ducks and then the hares are just rounding it up so u spent ur time in the best company- even if u are just staying put at rockcottage. And the countryside is just amazing, the coast is just around the corner and u stay just a short drive away from all these beautiful and vivid villages
we couldn’t have wish for more. Thanks a million for having us

Review of Garden Chalet (not pictured)

I loved my 'glamping' experience. I feel at home on the property and John was the perfect host. Everyone I encountered made me feel so welcomed. Serendipitously, my visit coincided with the West Cork Food Festival. What a great experience to participate in events that bring together all of West Cork's communities. I was able to find plenty of vegan/vegetarian food options. Highlights of my first week include the Ewe Experience and Two Green Shoots, Sheep's Head lighthouse, Heritage Museum in Skibbereen and Organico in Bantry. Spinning classes with Daniel and Linda from Daniel Martin fitness were really good, and yoga with Bella was super relaxing. On to my second week...and more events to write about. Such a beautiful part of the world. I am so lucky!

Joli mignon petit chalet

Parfait pour un sĂ©jour court en couple, voire plus long si on ”bouge” beaucoup. Une rĂ©gion Ă  dĂ©couvrir, des hĂŽtes adorables et hyper rĂ©actifs, (prĂȘts Ă  se mettre en quatre pour palier vos erreurs), des petites attentions dĂ©notent un rĂ©el sens de l’hospitalitĂ© : petit dejeuner Ă  l’arrivĂ©e, bouquet frais sur la table. Schöne Landschaft, nur mit Auto

Fantastic spot

We had a lovely stay in this cottage. The property is beautiful and has loads to explore. There are walks with stunning views and lots of friendly animals. We found the cottage had plenty of amenities for our stay, but the best part is how easy it is to explore the area from here. I would recommend the cottage for a couple, but probably not a family as it would be a bit small for more than 2 people. We'd definitely like to visit again.

Fijne, schone accommodatie

Mooie locatie en omgeving. Gastvrije en behulpzame eigenaren, zonder opdringerig te zijn. Fijne, schone accommodatie met goede voorzieningen (bv. scherpe messen komen we zelden tegen). Alleen het bed liet wat te wensen over. Al met al een zeer plezierig verblijf.

Peaceful and relaxing

We had a great week staying at Rock Cottage, the setting is beautiful the grounds are stunning and spacious. The chalet itself is hidden away with a private patio and resident ponies over the fence. The chalet is well kitted out with super kitchen and great shower, comfy bed and tv (we didn't use it). Lovely touch with the flowers and free eggs as a welcome. Will certainly recommend to others, we loved it

Superb location

The chalet is very compact. It took some discipline and organisation to make our stay comfortable. The bed is very comfortable and the shower and bathroom are very good. It would benefit from additional storage, even some shelves or coat/clothes hooks. It was, of course, great value for money.

Rock Cottage Rocks

Very friendly reception. Everything catered for by Jacqueline and Jonathan. The location was perfect for us to relax and enjoy our short stay. The cottage and grounds are fabulous with very friendly animals (dogs, donkeys and ponies). Will definitely return.

Magic

This was our first experience at Glamping. We arrived with open minds ready to make-do no matter. Our experience was just amazing. It became for us an enchanting oasis in an area of West Cork with which we were unfamiliar. We couldn’t have selected a better location. It was central to all. A magnificent compact dwelling, artistically furnished with a delicate, yet tasteful awareness of all that is beautiful in nature. Thank you Jacqueline for our most memorable trip to Schull and surrounds. We loved every moment.

Amazing stay away

The property was spotless and very comfortable. The hosts were wonderful and welcoming. The animal hosts Saffron and Elsa are also very welcoming and friendly. Truly a beautiful place surrounded by great scenery and lots of places to explore within a 30 minute drive.

Peaceful retreat

Lovely little chalet surrounded by nature. If you are looking for some peace and quiet it is the perfect place for you. The chalet is compact but perfect for a couple.
