Hilo Bay Oceanfront B&B

Hilo

10/10 Excellent

Booked this room thru Expedia 10 minutes before showing up at the place. We were warmly greeted by the owners and they assisted us in taking our luggage in. They let us chose between the 2 rooms they had available. They were amazing hosts. They offered us hot and cold beverages and snacks. They even drove us into town and dropped us off. The rooms and the views were gorgeous. Great breakfast in the morning and they even sent us away with fresh baked banana bread they made that morning when we...

This place is amazing! If you're looking for a getaway from many other tourists, don't mind sharing a separate, common kitchen with some other folks, and enjoy some fantastic recommendations from your hosts, this place is for you. The suites are nicely apportioned and the hosts have thought of everything. We like to cook our own dinners in the evening as well as breakfast and this place suited us perfectly. We also hate crowds. The only crowds you'll have to deal with here are a few frogs in the...

The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls

Hilo

10/10 Excellent

Loved the profoundly peaceful location, could hike to and swim under beautiful waterfall on site. Only sounds were of nature. 4 miles from funky town of Hilo, which we also really liked. Perfect get-away-from-tourist-crowds Inn. Provides breakfast- could be improved with Gluten-free dairy-free breakfast option but good fresh fruit, waffles, egg souffle. Friendly staff but not overly so as in B&B where you have to make convo with owners. At night amazing views of stars, darkest sky I have ever...

I booked a night here since it was close to the airport and our accommodations for the trip were far and we we’re arriving very late. I called ahead let them know of our late arrival. Turns out our flight was delayed twice making our arrival even later. Arriving into Hilo at 0130 was not the easiest. We couldn’t get a Lyft, Uber, or taxi. A whole plane of people were trying to use 3 car shares at the same time. Mr Arnott went above and beyond helping out a single mom with 2 kids Stuck at the...

Large clean room with access via a veranda to a tree shaded backyard with tables and a barbeque. Best breakfast with a variety of generous choices of eggs, meats , fruits or cereals, jams and cream cheese ( whatever is in the fridge as a fair game). The cottage is located within 3 minute walk from a beach next to million dollar homes., and a short drive to other beaches, parks and waterfalls, museums and everything else the east coast of Hawaii has to offer. No volcano gases (VOG) which...

We stayed here for almost two weeks. Kelly was amazing. She was always whipping up different types of breakfasts. She was so cute and so talkative. Her food was really good. (If you are like me however, ask for pancakes or french toast or crepes) she loves to cook Mexican style breakfast but it didn’t always sit right with me. Then I told her about and she said, “well you should have told me earlier!” We both laughed. And it was excellent there after. Her place is very cozy and calm. I loved...

This isn't a hotel. It is closer to an AirBnb/High-End Hostel. Either way, it is awesome. We stayed in the guest house. The bed is amazingly comfortable and I slept great. The room was clean and had everything I expected. Ray runs the day to day ops and he is an awesome, welcoming guy. Our room had an incredible view of the rainforest and the ocean. However, the best part about this place is the outdoor shower. Best shower you will ever take. I never wanted to get out. I would come...

Was with daughter and grand twin girls in there big rental house for week near Pahoa by coast. Decided to stay extra 5 days on short notice as Kilauea volcano was lighting up Lava lake. Did not need 400$ nite place as by myself. Found Hilo Vacation Rental at 85$ nite on Expedia for room queen bed, lots of storage, Tv, internet fast and porch area French doors to dry snorkel stuff. Was shared common areas and bath was very nice and never had problem with guests as seems was always available....

Volcano Acres Ranch B&B

10/10 Excellent

We stayed in the Ohia Ranch Retreat room. This was easily the most beautiful room we’ve ever stayed in. The aesthetic of the stained wood beams, hard wood floors and furnishings was outstanding. There was a real attention to detail. The bed was also tied for the most comfortable bed we’ve slept in and reminds us that we have to replace our bed at home sometime soon. The surroundings were also beautiful and complete with fun farm animals including Lucy the goat, who never ceased to...

I wanted to purchase several items in the gift shop and passed.
