"This is a great hotel - perfect if being near the main station/transport is important. It’s a very traditional place in terms of decor but everything was immaculate and well looked after - our room was really spacious and even had an exercise bike which we weren’t expecting! There were just a couple of smaller problems such as empty shampoo bottle in shower and very small beds. Also, the staff is efficient and helpful but not friendly or welcoming. "

"I regret that I did not have a chance to try out the restaurant, and the in-room capsule coffeemaker was not a success, but the internet connection was good, the room was quiet, and the hotel itself was in an excellent location, especially for St. Jakob Stadium. Check-in and check out were very quick, and I paid extra for a balcony, which was well worth the money. It was a great place to relax and have some coffee, and the nice accordion glass doors and windows sealed out the noise at night. Nearby grocery stores, cafes, a bakery, a handy mini-mart, and easy access to trams downtown. I walked to the stadium in 20 minutes along the little river. I travel with a dog, and we were glad there was a lift in the building. There is a fee of 15 CHF per night for a dog, which I think is a bit steep, but I understand that we are all paying for all the dogs that may or may not be well behaved in hotels. "

"I really enjoyed my stay at the Mercure. After a long drive it was so nice to have a swim in the pool and relax in the jacuzzi and sauna. The bed in my room was so comfy and the room itself was spacious and so quiet. I also loved the blinds to make the room completely dark. The hotel was really easy to find and luckily not far from the motorway so I didn’t have to navigate too far. I also ate in the restaurant and the food was really nice and the service was very good. I would definitely stay here again. "
