"Lovely staff. Good location near the centre. Mattress protector was covered in blood. We had to ask for it to be changed. Not just a spot almost a murder scene. Repeatedly requested another duvet as two of us were sharing a double bed staff kept saying yes but one never materialised . Surely an establishment of this size should have a spare duvet. The room we were given was absolutely freezing with a gale blowing through the window just at head height as you lay in bed and as the room was so small there was no way of moving away from this. we had a terrible night sleep. We were removed to a twin room which was more acceptable and we could at least move around. The ‘cosy’ rooms are very, very small. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the foyer but the coffee had always run out and the hot water would always run out so it wasn’t really very satisfactory. The staff are trying their best, but they can’t really check people in and be constantly refilling coffee. I cannot recommend this hotel and I would never stay there again."

"I recently stayed at Leonardo Edinburgh Haymarket and unfortunately my experience did not meet expectations. During my stay, the room was not properly serviced—trash was not removed and towels were not replaced. When I raised this with staff, I received an apology, but no visible follow-up or effort to address the issue or prevent it from happening again. At breakfast, I also noticed hygiene concerns. Staff appeared to simply add missing cutlery to tables without checking whether existing items had already been used, which did not inspire confidence in cleanliness standards. Additionally, the elevators were very slow, making it inconvenient to reach rooms on higher floors such as the 4th floor. Overall, this stay set a lower standard than expected for the Leonardo brand. Given the apparent gaps in cleanliness and service, the 4-star rating feels difficult to justify. I would likely consider alternative accommodations in the future."

"A wonderful stay at the holiday Inn ( near the zoo) very spacious, very clean and organised-by friendly professional team. Well connected to airport and city. I hope to return when visiting Edinburgh again. "

"This was actually a two night stay - two separate, sequential reservations - which the staff dealt with just fine on check-in, though despite getting my keys renewed first thing on Day 2, the keys still did not work when I got back to my room - first world problems! Biggest issue was that the hotel only had one working lift (elevator) for ten floors - you can imagine how busy that one elevator was! Breakfast was OK, though the eggs benedict was luke-warm rather than hot. Decent continental breakfast selection, but mini-croissants were not fresh, and there was a distinct lack of any fresh bread (only sliced bread for toasting) - a few baguettes would make a difference! The room was pretty spacious and comfortable and reasonably quiet. It looked a little tired in places, but nothing too troubling. The staircase used in place of the elevator service was somewhat grubby in places and not what would be expected of a 4* hotel. The exit/entry off Calton Road is a bonus for easy access to Edinburgh Waverley Station. The gym, although small in size, was well-equipped with free weights, and the steam room in the spa was a real bonus."

"I left my bag in the room which was yet to be turned around then when I returned late on my bag had gone and the clueless guy on reception had no idea where it was. So nothing to change into and not even able to brush my teeth. I found it the next morning sitting on the desk in reception. Barely an apology. I asked for a part refund, was told the manager would call me and NOTHING. Not impressed to say the least. "

"i don’t understand the negative hostile reviews; many people leaving scathing reviews are for the rooms they book without a window, which specifically state before booking ‘no window’. duh. I arrived very very late and the night auditor (assuming), was professional, engaging, and fun to talk to at 2am. I had a room upgrade because of the time I was checking in I assume, and it was I believe in Room 520 on the 5th floor, with an amazing view dead center to the Modern Two art gallery. The room was huge and spotless; and I am all over the world 250 times a year in hotels traveling. The only issue is the 10am check m and t tag qout. Say for someone like me who checked in at 2am, it was tough to get ready at that 8:30am"
