Craig was great, beginning to end.

We were visiting our grandkids who live nearby, so we were mostly using the apartment for sleeping, showering, and a safe place to leave our stuff…. It was very comfortable. Craig was a totally responsive host, so any questions got answered quickly and clearly. We’d definitely stay here again.

Cute, clean and conveniently located Evanston studio apt.

We had a great stay in this Evanston lower level studio apartment while in town for our reunion and Homecoming weekend at Northwestern. The studio is clean, nicely decorated, good amenities, and conveniently located to both the NU campus and downtown Chicago. Having a dedicated parking spot was awesome too, as the off-street parking fills up quickly in the evening. My only recommendation would be replacing the really firm mattress with a softer one, or a memory foam topper. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this location to our friends and family.

I stayed for graduation weekend at Northwestern. Short Uber ride to university. Basement apartment was clean and well equipped. Craig was very responsive. Only caveat is that as this is basement apartment, expect to hear footsteps from the folks above.

Close to Northwestern

Husband/wife/teen needed a place for a weekend stay near Northwestern. The teen slept on the couch and was comfortable. Street parking was never a problem. It IS a basement property and you can expect some noise from neighbors above, but it wasn’t overly intrusive during our stay. Host very responsive and accessible. Worked out great for our needs.

Student in town for Intensives

I'm a seminary student, and I came into town for an intensive class. So, I was really only in the space in the evenings, but it was comfy. The location is amazing!!! The studio apartment was decently clean. The projector is VERY cool. There were a few details I could not find instructions for, like where to take the garbage out when I was on my way out. But I left a message for the owner and they were good about it. I would stay again. Recommend.

Great for some just not for us

This garden studio is in a great location and was very clean. I liked the studio but my spouse and dogs didn’t. Here’s why they did not like it: my husband is 6’ 3” and the screws from the overhead pipes were at head level. The apartment was high tech (great for some but not for us); as two folks over 60 we had a hard time figuring out the lights and even the convection stove top. It would have helped if there had been specific instructions about these in the house manual. The 6 stairs leading down to the basement are painted black and they were difficult for my spouse and our one dog to navigate (they were steep and they couldn’t see them we’ll them; the dog was afraid of them). Because our dog was afraid it was a production to get her out—not the fault of Craig or the apartment but it did impact our stay. Finally, it was very cold and the thermostat didn’t turn on to adjust so we were cold most of the time.

Evanston apt hits the sweet spot!

My wife and I recently traveled to Evanston for a wedding, bringing along our two German Shepherd Dogs, and had the pleasure of staying for two nights at Craig's "Garden Apartment". It's hard to find a place to stay that will accept dogs, and even more so when there are two of them, each weighing over 70 lbs! So we jumped at the chance to be the first tenants of this new-to-vrbo gem! We found the apartment to be exactly as advertised, clean, neat and tidy, with what appear to be all-new kitchen appliances plus a washer and dryer in the back room. Craig supplied all the extras you might home to find, including little things like a range of teas and a supply of detergent pods for the washer. There is a huge ceiling-mounted and remotely controllable video screen mounted opposite the comfortable couch. In short, everything needed for a comfortable stay was provided. The neighborhood was nice and the neighbors I encountered while walking our dogs were invariably friendly. As Craig stated in his listing, there is ample on-street parking available. I would note that the stairs down to the apartment are quite steep and would perhaps be difficult for someone with impaired mobility to descend. That said, my wife and I are both in our mid-70's and had no trouble going up or down. Craig, the unit's owner, is very friendly and easy to deal with and stayed in communication with us when needed throughout our stay. What else can I add but 5-stars!

The place was cute, but not clean. I paid a 150 cleaning fee for a dirty place. The floor was filthy, cloves and crumbs by the bed, hair balls in the bathroom, dirty glasses on dusty shelves, dead spiders, huge dust bunnies under the couch, moldy shower curtain liner, old coffee grounds in the coffeemaker that didn’t even work.

Great apartment

We were in town for Loyola’s graduation and this was a great place to stay instead of a hotel. The drive to Loyola is about 18 minutes. The apartment is super spacious and has a well stocked kitchen. The manager was great at communicating. You can hear everything that happens upstairs but it didn’t affect our stay and the neighbors were quiet at night. Would highly recommend! Easy parking too which is great.

Although the check-in and check out process was great I felt like the rental could have been cleaner and needed a sent of freshness. The Moss frames on the wall left dirt on the floor, the shades on the front windows where broken, the center glass table was wobbly because of loose screws, the door of the fridge was dirty, the bathroom sink faucet was broken. The tenants above were very noisy at all times of the day.

Nice little get away

The property was located in a nice neighborhood just outside of the hustle and bustle of Chicago. We were not able to locate a washer and dryer but other than that, all amenities were as described. Communication with the property manager was top tier! He was super responsive and friendly. This is a basement unit and our upstairs neighbors did not observe the quiet hours, so just know you may hear some noise from upstairs. Property is safe, convenient to downtown and Wrigley field, and we would definitely stay here should we decide to visit the area again.
