"This is a charming hotel with a popular restaurant and bar. It seemed very busy during our stay and I believe the hotel was fully booked that night. The staff on arrival were welcoming and friendly, and they kindly explained how to access the building after 11:30pm, which was very helpful.
The restaurant also appeared popular with both guests and visitors, creating a lively atmosphere.
As expected with such an old building in the centre of town, there is no on-site parking. However, there are several nearby public car parks within easy walking distance, so this wasn’t too inconvenient.
Our room was immaculate and very comfortable. The large shower was excellent, with plenty of hot water, and it was nice to have good coffee, a kettle, and biscuits provided in the room.
Breakfast was included in the stay, although this was the one area that let the experience down slightly. The croissants seemed a little stale and dry, and with no hot breakfast options available, it felt somewhat limited. The breakfast staff were also less engaging than the rest of the team, despite wishing them good morning, only one person responded, and unfortunately it came across rather sarcastically.
One final point, which is obviously not the hotel’s fault, was that the guest in the neighbouring room snored extremely loudly throughout the night, which disturbed our sleep several times.
Overall, though, this is a clean, welcoming, and well-located hotel with friendly reception staff and comfortable"
