"Awesome snorkling, and location. Food was outstanding. Service was very hard to get. Many dinners, meals, I was not able to even get servers attention for water, pop, coffee. The pool snack bar food was also great if you could ever get a server or service to get it. Great horel, amenities, food, but terrible service. Almost as if the servers went out of there way to not be of service."

The staff was always cleaning & super polite! Over all pretty good stay for the family ! The kids club was nice & had multiple activities for all around ages. "

"I've stayed at the Playa Azul since 1995. It's been my "go to" for that long and will stay my "go to" until death do us part! The staff is wonderful. Breakfast is good, too. Other than rude Americans, it would be the perfect place to spend time for any reason. The "hogging" of palapas on the beach gets annoying; had to get there by 6 am to get a spot. But, such is a price of paradise. The property is "old" so you're not going to get "exactly" what you want. By far, imho it's the best "little quiet beach" on the island and I've been to most all of them. The spa is fantastic; great "specials" and the staff is divine. Most safe and trustworthy place to spend your precious vacation dollars. And do tip your staff...they work so very hard to do all the things; cooking, cleaning and caring! As a guest, make the effort, go the extra mile for them, like they do for Everyone "

"the staff and the overall joyful atmosphere of the resort are wonderful. the pools and sandy beach are great. Diego helped everyday on the beach, and Luis kept the pool bar drinks flowing. plenty of hot water for showers. it was easy to receive reservations at the ala cart restaurants. the elephant in the room is the seaweed & mangrove grass. they work each day to remove it, but the first 50ft of water remains brown. after that, beautiful shades of blue. a 500 ft walk down the beach takes you to clear water. there is also a hippo in the pool, but he is a slide. the food is even better than I remember from past stays. i was surprised to find that the catamaran use was an add on fee, but that misunderstanding is not the fault of Melia, as I booked through a third party description. I had a fantastic hour of sailing with Memo as my guide. we enjoyed our relaxing days at the Melia. sand, sun, pool, dining- it was a good time! "

"We were at ElCozumeleno in the 2000's and had a great time. What a difference this time. The place is rundown and not managed very well. The hot tubs were bubbling green foam. Charging $40 jf you check in early is rediculous when there isn't anyone in line. The bed linen was illfitted the towels were gray. The food had nothing desirable. A real dissappointment."
