The property is unique. The commons areas are welcoming and convenient. We stayed here to be close to the art museums, and if you can dodge the bikers and trams for a five-eight minute walk, you will love the experience. The cocktail spread was all we needed for that evening meal, though we did find nearby restaurants that were fun. Breakfast at the hotel was delightful. Most wonderful was the kindness of the lovely women running the hotel. We felt welcomed in Amsterdam thanks to them.

My husband and I recently stayed 3 nights at this hotel and could not have loved it more. The location is perfect for walking and exploring all different parts of the city. Dam Square, The Red Light District, The Anne Frank house, The Heineken Experience, and The Rijksmuseum area were all within walking distance; some closer than others. The hotel is walkable to a number of the places we were visiting. I liked that it wasn’t in the city center but only 10 minutes from the train station. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable.

Location was great - 15 minute tram ride to the Van Gogh / Rijksmuseum, 20 minute metro ride to Centraal Station, near a busy commercial street with options for restaurants, cafes, and parks. The service was excellent and I felt right at home. If you're debating between staying in the Canal Ring vs. a little more on the outskirts, I recommend staying at citizen M - you get a better feel for daily Dutch life and the area is safer and not as touristy.

Excellent choice if you don't want to overpay for a hotel near the city center. Clean, minimal and eco-friendly rooms, friendly staff and well-maintained facilities made our stay very pleasant. I would definitely stay there again!
