"I recently stayed at the Hotel Riu Plaza Toronto and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience related to how a medical need was handled. During the complimentary breakfast service, I was rushed to finish my meal as staff were closing the dining area. I explained that I have a medical condition due to gastric surgery, which limits how quickly I am able to eat, and asked for a simple accommodation—either a bit more time or permission to take my food to my room. Despite clearly communicating this, my request was denied, and I was made to feel like an inconvenience rather than a guest with a legitimate need. The situation was distressing enough that I left the dining area in tears. I did speak with a manager at the front desk, who acknowledged that the situation should not have happened and apologized. However, the only resolution offered was a late checkout, which did not meaningfully address the impact of the experience. What is most concerning is not just the interaction itself, but the lack of flexibility and understanding around accessibility needs. The request I made was simple and would not have caused any disruption, yet it was still refused. The hotel itself is clean and well-located, but this experience significantly impacted my stay. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and improves how staff are trained to handle situations involving medical or accessibility needs, so other guests do not have a similar experience. "

"The contactless check in and out were very convenient, I was able to check in/out in less than a minute. The pools and water slide are very cool. Great location, steps away from TMU station and the Eaton Centre. Very clean room. The red elevators were quite slow, but it was also very busy in the hotel due to March break and two conventions in Toronto so can’t complain too much. I can’t speak for the other coloured elevators. Would come back!"
