"The Ayr Hotel is well placed in Kirkwall, close to the main ferry terminal, the bus station, and the main shopping street. We stayed in a detached block across the street with 12 apartments. Ours had a comfortable bedroom, good bathroom and a large sitting room with comfortable sofas. The kitchenette had a fridge, a hob and a microwave. . The restaurant was in the main building. Food was always quickly served and delicious."

"We were in The Shore room 14, not part of main property which was still great except for the staining from water damage on the ceiling directly over the head of the bed. "

"The bed and breakfast was located in a rural area of Stromness and was convenient for getting around Orkney. Our hosts were very helpful and breakfasts were flexible and made to order. The room was very clean and comfortable and looked out onto green fields filled with sheep and cows. Our trip coincided with a busy time for the family so check-in was a little delayed. It is critical that guests check with the hosts in advance to schedule their arrival."

"Great place for our short visit to the Orkneys! Very close to the ferry service, easy overnight parking, very close to most of the Neolithic sites we wanted to see, and great breakfast each morning. "

"We were met on the ferry by chance by the lady that owned the house that we were staying in, she led us directly to the property and showed us round the house. The house was exactly as described, clean, tidy and very well equipped. The lady's husband worked on the ferry and on one occasion he phoned his wife and asked her to make sure we were going to arrive on time. The whole experience was perfect."
