"The resort was beautiful. Big, grand feel. Beautiful mountain views from restaurants and rooms. Nicely landscaped. In a nice mountain neighborhood with old homes with character. Several restaurants. The breakfast buffet was the best I've had and well worth the $35. Every bite was delicious. The pool and hot tubs in the spa could only be used by spa guests and guests that paid $200 per day to use them. There was another outdoor pool, but it was so far away, I couldn't even see it from the hotel. The concierge suggested taking a shuttle to the pool. At these nightly prices, a pool and hot tub for all guests is expected. The guest room walls were paper thin in the Sammons annex. I could hear conversations next door and could even hear someone hiccuping, so you felt as though you couldn't talk about anything private (or do anything else) because your neighbor would hear every word."

"From check-in to departure, our favorite hotel experience in recent memory. 10 of 10. Don’t miss the speakeasy in the cellar and dinner at Luminosa was fabulous. The absolute best aspect of this hotel is the wonderful staff. Without exception every person with whom we interacted was delightful. We visit Asheville regularly and The Flat Iron will be our first choice."

"The room was clean. I had breakfast there twice and both times the meals were delicious. I additionally ordered in room dining and that meal was also delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, I had a lovely stay."

"It was cool that a degree of recognition was kept from the building having been an iconic department store in NC. The room was large with seating area. The bathroom was large with separation for dual use. Had ambience and a comfortable feel."

"The staff from the valets to reception were wonderful, polite, attentive, and professional. The room was large comfortable and the views, beautiful and memorable. Location was key to our stay and convenient for our needs. The internet was spotty and privacy of the bathroom in the room was not preferred but overall clean and comfortable. We would stay at this hotel again."
