Dry-stone walls are an integral feature of the Yorkshire Dales. Whilst you will often see them being repaired it is more unusual to see a new one being built.
Here at Appletreewick I was fortunate to see a craftsman building this wall. I could only admire his skill. Whilst he finished the wall with a mortared coping, the wall itself is "dry".

"We didn’t stay because there were 20 stone steps up to the apartment with open railings at the side and landing which we felt was unsafe for us and our dog. "Just come back from a 3 night stay with my husband. They room spotless and was well decorated. The only criticism is that it was very warm, so we had to sleep with the window open. The breakfast was amazing and has everything you would expect. We would definitely says again. "
