Wonderful staff, cozy and rustic setting, and awesome food! We also loved hearing the owls every morning and meeting the locals' pets (very pet-friendly).

The rooms are fairly small, but this is to be expected in such an old building. Spotlessly clean, good supplies of tea, coffee and hot chocolate and biscuits provided too. High quality linens. The pub itself serves good quality beer (Wadworth's and associates), and the home cooked food was also great and healthy(ish). Breakfast was hearty, with a good choice of options. Staff couldn't help enough... Just about perfect really!

Friendly staff. Rooms are older, but the Inn was built in the 1500's, so what do you expect? Rooms were a great size and the water pressure was outstanding. Breakfast was great and included with our stay. Good restaurant too for dinner.

We absolutely loved our stay - the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was great, lots of options. We enjoyed all the food we ate there, great variety on the menu and fresh tasting food. We booked to stay here during the British Grand Prix and thought it was excellent value for money. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and seem recently renovated. Our room was up lots of stairs - this wasn’t a problem for us but worth considering your luggage. Highly recommend!

Sue greeted us at reception, she was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and tidy. Evening meal was delicious and served quickly. A nice short stay and would recommend to potential guests!

Beautiful location in the countryside, in a sweet town that was fun to walk around and enjoy the peacefulness. Breakfast was great, and the staff were all very friendly.

Our stay at the Lion was excellent. The only complaint was that the door to our room wouldn't lock, but other than that everything was great. I would definitely stay there again. Great location for shopping at Bicester Village and a short drive to Bleinheim Palace.

Simple room with comfortable bed, no air conditioning but our nights cooled down. The rooms are above a pub that often stayed busy till @ 11pm. For us, the noise never bothered us. Wasn't too fond of the smokers, but we delt with it. It was wonderful to have a pub below, we could wander down in the evening for a nightcap, play some cards, or grab a dessert. The town was lovely to take an evening walk in. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed them all. We really enjoyed our stay here,...

Wonderful hotel! We enjoyed the breakfast and we also enjoyed evening meals in the pub/bar (great pizza) and in the restaurant. The staff is very friendly and professional and they definitely enhanced our experience. Thank you! We had a bottom floor accommodation, so we did not get the balcony I was hoping for, but the chilly weather kept us inside anyway. There is a rooftop terrace where you can enjoy a cocktail. An infrequent visitor to Blenheim Palace should factor in a couple of days in Woodstock, and the Buttery is a solid BB option, particularly if you are traveling without a car. Bus transport (S3) from Oxford is convenient, and the palace is a ten minute stroll away. Breakfast choices run from Full English to crumpets and tea. Staff is friendly, the upstairs room comfortable and everything worked including the free WiFi. Key access and security is well conceived, given no on-site management...

Cannot say enough about this property. Start to finish one of the most beautiful, best properties we have ever visited. Recommend without hesitation. Make sure you plan to eat there. Restaurant is as good as the view.

Nice Inn, the rooms are above a local bar, it was noisy until the bar closed. The rooms where clean and the staff friendly. It is located on a small country road, far from any town.
