"So we booked this, gorgeous little place for a valentine's night stay. I had a question and the owners replied quickly and professionally. It was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Exactly as described and run by genuinely welcoming, polite, hospitable people. The cottage was beautiful, well finished and a pleasure to stay. Will be booking again wothout a doubt. "Lovely little cottage, perfect for a short stay (wish we had longer!) local to Oxford, Cotswolds & as a stopover from north to south as just off M40/A34. Managed Ok even in hot weather as a fan provided & bathroom was fab. Would have been nice to be able to open up the rear door for patio breakfast rather than walk around the side but not there long enough to be an issue. Opposite the church so had a musical alarm call from the bells on a Sunday norning which was novel & as expected for village...

"This is a big fancy hotel. We have stayed here before. It’s well-maintained and the staff seem friendly. But there are details that made this a less than excellent stay. Our room was literally blocks away from the front entrance - our GPS got confused when we were planning outtings— so if you’re not looking to get extra steps make sure to ask for a closer one when you check in. The bathroom was well appointed but the shower leaked and the sink was very slow to drain. There was an Nespresso machine in the room, but most of the coffee we were given was decaf. When we tried to order coffee to go downstairs they didn’t have any paper cups. So it was good - but not excellent."

"The Whately Hall was even better than we expected. The room was large and airy with everything that we needed to make our stay comfortable. The evening meal was served by a very polite waitress for whom nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was self service with a choice of continental and a Full English Breakfast with a choice of how you wanted your eggs cooked. Or both if you had enough room. All the staff were exceptionally well mannered and it was clear that they were there to help whenever they were needed. Thank you, we really enjoyed our stay."

"Regular annual visitors to this hotel so knew what to expect. Room was large and clean. Staff we came across were all very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast room was very well stocked there was a really wide choice from the buffet. River walk of about 15 mins into the city. Very quiet at night on this occasion. Onsite car parking is £25 per day. Check in agent did not ask for payment and when i asked i was told it was included which surprised me as it never used to be. I went back later and challenged them on this again and surprise another check showed it wasn't so an apology was given and £50 was taken. Failure to pay would mean a £100 fine later on so beware of this. Couldn't get a stable picture on any tv channel which was a little frustrating but then we weren't there to watch tv."
