6/10 Okay

"The bed was awful. It was inexcusably hard to the point where I couldn’t sleep and left with a migraine. I wish I was exaggerating. Yes the aesthetic was cute but with the bed thing and then the detachable shower head not working as well…it was not a good experience. The only thing that made me even give 3 stars outside of the aesthetic was the amazing body wash that you could purchase if you’d like. It was like a spa in a bottle! I wish I could give it another try but my body definitely says no!"

The Ranch at Death Valley – Inside the Park

10/10 Excellent

"When we arrived the Ranch the reception staff informed us we had been upgraded to a lodge at no extra cost. Brilliant the room was clean with a sitting room. Nice bathroom with a large shower room. Two televisions and two queen size beds. We stayed 3 nights and visited the restaurant on all of them. Food was nice and the staff really friendly. Considering the location the prices were reasonable $25 for a burger and $10 for a beer both quality though. Great location to visit Death valley park. In the late afternoon we went for a swim in the pool, very clean and towels provided. Be prepared for the compulsory tip which is suggested at the bottom of each credit card transaction when paying for a meal or hospitality service which we from the UK are not used to. They also have a on site store and ice cream parlour which was good. Loved our stay at the Ranch and would recommend it if visiting Death Valley."

"Our stay was just ok. We could not get into our room until 4:30pm due to a crazy busy weekend. I think I had a handicap room which was roomy and everything but the bed was hard. The room was clean and parking was right outside our door so those were good things. I dont think I would personally stay there again however with that said, maybe the average traveler through Bishop would find it adequate for a night. Free breakfast."

"The staff was very informative and welcoming when we arrived and during the rest of our stay. We stayed during the start of the offseason for skiing, but there were still plenty of people who stayed and visited during the day to take advantage of the small bit of snow remaining. The room was advertised as having a Mountain View, however this was not the case for us, as we had no clear view of it. The welcoming lobby and reception was very nice and cozy, with the architecture giving off cabin vibes. However the room that we stayed in was separate from that building, and part of the Yodler Haus building nearby. There was no covered connection to the garage building, and while it was not terribly cold, it was very windy when we arrived. The room itself was okay, though in my opinion in need of a renovation. The bed was comfortable and we were able to sleep well. Overall, I would say our stay was okay, nothing spectacular that would make me choose this again as my first choice, but perhaps in another time during the prime skiing season."
