Casa Ambrosia: Unique Adobe Home with Mountain Views in a Beautiful River Valley

"We decided on Casa Ambrosia for our 4th of July escape, and it was perfect! The home is tucked away from the little town of El Rito on several acres with a view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains in the distance. We only had a couple days of obscured views due to smoke from fires south and west of Santa Fe. The house was very cozy for the 2 of us and our 2 small dogs. The kitchen had all needed housewares for eating in, the gas grill was good size and very clean. Hot tub was nice. Sleep Number bed upstairs in the master bedroom was very comfy. The splitters used to cool and heat the house worked great in keeping us cool in 90 degree temps.This was one of the most peaceful, relaxing and quiet stays we’ve ever experienced. Our days were spent lounging after breakfast, reading, short hikes when it wasn’t too hot, napping, soaking in the hot tub, and streaming some movies. First 4th without the constant sound of fireworks at all hours of the day and night. Our dogs loved it!Grocery shopped before arriving so we ate many meals at the house. A couple day trips to the Ghost Ranch, the Monastery of Christ in the Desert (dirt road, one lane for most of it - monastery was ok, but the canyon drive had incredible views and beauty), and stopping for light snacks and beverages at the Abiquiu Inn was great. Also spent an evening for dinner at the hot springs in Ojo Caliente, 20 min. from El Rito."

"We had a wonderful experience at Paradise Pond! Very peaceful and very relaxing, just what we were looking for. Tom was a great host. The Casita itself was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the Southwest decor. We would highly recommend a stay at this beautiful Casita."

"This was our fourth—or perhaps fifth—stay at this property, and each visit has only strengthened our appreciation for it. We travel to this area regularly, and whenever our stay is more than a couple of nights, this is our first choice.As someone who has spent a career studying and teaching the relationship between people and the built environment, I appreciate accommodations that are thoughtfully designed rather than merely well appointed. This property succeeds because it creates a genuine sense of place. It is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and offers the rare feeling of being both welcomed and completely at home.The architecture and interiors balance comfort, functionality, and understated elegance. Every detail feels intentional, creating an environment that invites relaxation rather than simply providing a place to sleep.Equally important is what you leave behind: crowded parking, noisy hallways, slamming doors, and the distractions so common in traditional hotels. Here, you enjoy privacy, independence, and the quiet comfort of a space that truly feels like your own.The greatest compliment we can offer is that this property has become part of the destination itself. We no longer think of it simply as a place to stay, but as an essential part of why we enjoy returning. That is a rare achievement."
