The house is self-contained — no shared interior spaces and no hosts on-site. Outside, you'll have use of your own deck and outdoor living area with bay views. In the guest storage you will find SUP boards, beach chairs, sun shades, snorkel gear, a rolling cooler and beach games for guest use. Parking is on-site and is on the road immediately in front of the house or inside a gate on the north side. The property is fenced and gated.
20 Knots is a beachfront home on the East Cape of Baja, set right on the Sea of Cortez in El Sargento — the residential neighborhood just to the north of La Ventana, and one of the best kiteboarding and wing foiling spots in North America. The house opens to sweeping bay views, especially on the upper deck. Expect big windows, bay views from the main living areas, and decks built for watching the wind come up in the afternoon and the sky turn colors at sunset. Inside, the living rooms feature hand-painted murals by a local artist that lean into the Baja setting. The kitchen is fully equipped for groups who want to cook — whether that's a quick breakfast before heading out on the water or a full dinner with fish from the morning's catch. Bedrooms are set up for real rest after long days outside, and bathrooms have been recently updated with water-conscious fixtures (the property runs on a graywater recycling system, so you can shower without guilt even in the dry season). Outside your door: the beach is 250m away. A short walk from the property and you can launch a kite, paddle out on a SUP, swim, or just walk. In-season, the bay is a migration corridor — humpbacks, whale sharks, and occasionally orcas pass through, and guests have spotted them right from the deck. The setting is remote enough to feel like an escape but close enough to everything that matters: La Ventana's restaurants, taco stands, and kite schools are a short drive, La Paz is about 45 minutes away for a bigger town day and San Jose Del Cabo is about a 2 hour drive.
For international and domestic arrivals, San Jose Del Cabo (SJD) International Airport serves as the primary gateway, with a drive of approximately 2 hours via shuttle or rental car under typical traffic conditions. For domestic flights within Mexico and seasonal flights from LAX, La Paz International Airport to El Sargento is a 40 minute car ride.
20 Knots was designed with sustainability and environmental responsibility in mind. The house was built from single trip shipping containers. 15 kw of solar panels sit on the roof on the property, providing 80-100% of our power. 35 kw batteries ensure you will never be left in a black/brown out (frequent in La Ventana due to the unstable power grid). We recently installed a Rainstick shower, a Time magazine invention of the year for 2024; twice the flow while using 80% less water. A Hydraloop 300 recycles our shower, laundry and bathroom sink water for non potable use as flushing water in toilets and irrigation. We are committed to pursuing a zero carbon footprint to do our part in preserving the natural beauty of La Ventana, a truly special place. The property is located on the main road in El Sargento.
