Search Ryokans in Hida

An absolutely magical experience, Yatusankan blew me away with the level of service and the beauty of the property. It was like staying in a museum--my wide and i remarked several times how much it felt like being inside the movie Spirited Away. Staying here was a special highlight of our trip and I hope to come back

This was the most personal, kind experience I have ever received from a hotel. The building itself is beautiful - this is a true look at a traditional Japanese Ryokan with a few modern comforts. The staff gave us tons of suggestions for things to do and a whole basket of sweets to try on the house. The Sake tasting was also free. This is the best place I have ever stayed.

Amazing place at amazing location. Royokan experience was a surprise.

If is a charming traditional Japanese inn in Takayama. It’s location is very convenient for walking to the train station and the main tourist area, but it is situated on a quiet side street. The staff was very friendly. The Japanese breakfast was excellent. We were given kimonos to wear. A very authentic experience.

Even though this hotel was not the most traditional in it's appearance, the ryokan experience here was incredibly memorable. Sleeping in a tatami covered room on futons, wearing traditional yukatas and having our kayseki meals served in our room were experiences we will never forget. Expensive because it is based on per person but something you have to do!

The hosts are so very kind, welcoming and accomodating. They maintain the authentic experience of using a traditional family style inn from years past. Just be aware that bathrooms are communal, but have a nice onsen style aesthetic :)

Wow this was such a highlight of our trip! Def wortg the trip! The onsen was amazing, the rooms were beautiful ,the dinner and breakfast experience delicious, and the staff super sweet. One thing to note, this is about an hr bus ride from Takayama station! We cut it really close because we didn't realize how far it was, if you get there after a certain time, they can't serve you dinner so plan accordingly

The rooms are big and nice. The staff is very helpful. The food was very good.

A gem in Takayama. Enjoyed everything. Staff was amazing. We wanted to bring Yuki with us. Food delicious

The owner is so nice and takes so much good care of the property. Everything was clean well maintained and the breakfast room was gorgeous. Breakfast was excellent. Great experience!

This ryokan was so wonderful. The staff is very nice and welcoming. It is a very short walk to Hida historical village. Get the breakfast and dinner package they were so delicious and very filling.

We really enjoyed our stay at this Ryokan. I was pleasantly surprised at how calming and soothing it was. We used the public bath which was incredible. Our view outside our place was gorgeous mountains overlooking parts of the town. There was a slight odor in the bathroom of musk but it didn’t affect us too much. Everything else was very clean. Beds were comfortable. They offered free shuttles to the bus stations which we were overjoyed to have since the local transit system is sometimes...

An enjoyable experience. The staff was more than kind. A must try for foreigners visiting Japan.

Ryokan Sansui is a peaceful retreat with beautiful mountain views, private outdoor onsen rooms, and the most dedicated, attentive and kind staff. We felt completely pampered by their service and hospitality. The meals were traditional omekase using local and seasonal ingredients. The food is clearly made with love, pride, and care. The japanese-style room had a sweeping view of the mountains and comfortable futon beds. We had plenty of space to unpack and do our morning yoga in the room. The...

Loved my stay at this hotel. Japanese style living up on a hill. About 5 minute walk from Red Bridge and 10 minutes from the Old Government Building and the Morning Market. Down the hill from the Castle Ruins (I recommend doing the ruins first thing in the morning!). They offered Japanese-style dinner and breakfast; for dinner, you need to let the front desk know before 5pm that day. The room was a very good size and the food was great as well. Loved the view from the porch as it overlooks...
