Highlands, NC Farmhouse 1 mile from Main Street

This home was rebuilt new after Highlands, NC gave permission to tear down a 100 yr old home on the original homesite. Therefore, it is a few feet away from a beautiful mountain stream and the house was masterfully rebuilt to the period. There are few houses better located or that have a more comfortable flow for groups, yet still keep an intimate feel. The sun porch is a great place to read or play cards, the back deck is for grilling and swinging on the porch swing while you listen to the brook. The family room has the perfect big screen TV to watch while the fire roars, and the bedrooms are like comfortable caves. Wedding locations are within a few minutes walk, plus it's a mile into town.
Property features 4 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths. On the main level is the Main Bedroom with King bed, an en suite bathroom with double vanities, a soaking tub, and a step in shower. Upstairs contains the other 3 bedrooms. The second main bedroom features a king bed, an en suite bathroom with double vanities, and a tub shower combination. Upstairs guest bedroom 1 has a King bed with en suite bath that features a tub/shower combination. Guest bedroom 2 has a queen bed and a separate room that has the twin bunk beds. This also has its own ensuite bathroom with tub/shower combination.

This is a special home recently rebuilt to the footprint of the original homestead 15 feet from a stream. Ideally located near the Farmhouse and perfectly suited to be a base for Old Edwards Inn wedding parties. It is just a stone's throw away from the Highlands Country Club. A tranquil setting, yet less than two minutes from shopping and restaurants.

*This is an animal friendly (DOGS ONLY) property. Pets must be approved and a pet fee is required.*

It is a great location and we enjoyed our stay in a very authentic farmhouse. I would have given it a five but the downstairs bedroom had a musty smell.

The home is absolutely beautiful, clean and functions very well. Great kitchen, bathrooms, plenty of family or reading areas and a lovely yard and creek. Super location, too. Not walking distance to town but a very short drive.

Everything about the property was just perfect. Great location, great communication and responsiveness from the property owner, and the house is even more beautiful and comfortable than in the pictures. We were in town for a wedding and of all the houses friends and family stayed in, this was by far the best.

Our family had a great time staying at Cindee and David's home. Our kids loved the stream and playing outside in the yard. Centrally located and well stocked with entertaining essentials.

We really enjoyed our stay. Charming Farmhouse and plenty of room for everyone. It is on Dillard Road, but you can't hear any road noise inside and has a nice amount of property to separate it from the road. Looking out at the stream and yard area is really nice. Very Close to town which is convenient. The Owner/Manager was great to work with. We will be back.

We absolutely loved our NYE getaway to The Highlands and our stay at the “elegant farmhouse” was a big part of that. So cozy and well appointed. We felt right at home and had everything we needed to prepare meals in the kitchen. Location was fantastic- 5 mins from town and the layout of the house was perfect for two families with the two primary en suite bedrooms and plenty of room for the kids and our dog. Highly recommend. We will be back!

We had the BEST time at this home! There were 4 couples, and it was a perfect getaway weekend. So much character in the house! Granted one couple had to take the bunk beds, but they didn’t mind. Owner/manager were very responsive to all questions. One suggestion would be to have a list of tips/FAQ’s, especially pertaining to linens at check out and to how to work tv, WiFi, etc. We hope to make this an annual trip!

The five of us had such a wonderful time in the Highlands, best time of year to go up there. Plenty of room for each of the ladies, wonderful kitchen, dens, bathrooms, and beds. We all loved the farmhouse and all of the flooring and special touches to the property

We loved this gorgeous property! Felt like we were living in a magnolia makeover with chip and Joanna Gaines. So much attention to detail. The creek was a real hit with grandchildren. We loved being close to town. The cute bunnies, deer and raccoon were a fun sight for us

Great, unique property. Our children loved playing outside in the creek. The farmhouse was adorable. We would suggest more drawers/storage in bedrooms. We are thinking about renting again in the future. Thanks!

We've just returned from our daughter's Highlands wedding and stayed in this lovely home. We absolutely loved everything about this beautiful farmhouse - location, furnishings, property, etc. The homeowners were extremely responsive and accommodating. The bedrooms all have their own large bathrooms. The kitchen was fully appointed. The large family room even had a table ready for game nights. It was truly a peaceful oasis for our family away from all of the wedding festivities. We look forward to staying here again!

We have stayed in many locations throughout Highlands over the years, and this location was hard to beat. Super convenient for trips into town and nearby hikes. The layout of the farmhouse was perfect for our family, and the addition of the stream running through the property made for great entertainment for our kids. The kitchen was well-stocked and the comfortable beds and bedding made for a relaxing holiday stay. Thank you!

We had a great time with our four children just outside of Highlands, North Carolina. The home is well appointed and comfortable with plenty of room for a family of six. The kids enjoyed the creek and I’ll trade campfires. Very close to downtown Highlands

We were grand parents traveling with adult married children and (3) grandsons (8/10/10) with two dogs. The house was perfect with our size family. The 4 bedrooms with en-suite baths served us well. The weather in October was cool so the fireplace was used every night. We were easy traveling distance to waterfalls, hikes, groceries and great dining in Highlands. As noted by others, we are very close to the main highway from Dillard into Highlands so there can be road noise on the screened in porch. Our grandsons and dogs spent a lot of time outside and in the creek. Perfect for them! The house is solidly built so there was not much noise transfer between rooms or between floors. We REALY appreciated this feature. We had a few service issues which I’m sure will be addressed by the owner. They did not affect our feelings of this property. Good for families, pets, and a perfect location.

We had a lovely stay at this home. Two families with kids, it was just perfect. The creek was a hit for our 6 year olds, they played endless hours outside and it felt very safe. The proximity to town was great. Loved the large kitchen and dining area. Great for gathering to eat. Loved the home!

We (three couples) stayed at this property for a 65th birthday celebration. it is a fantastic home and the ease of everything form start to finish cannot be overstated. My only complaint (and its minor) is that the internet signal is very weak. Lovely place and a lovely experience!

This house is a dream. Great location, but you’ll be happy hanging out at the house. It’s like a Chip and Joanna Gaines farm house! Didn’t want to leave.
