"We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. Pay to park (but only 10 pounds) for two nights - but still…great location for rail or ferry, but the staff couldn’t check use an upgrade. PS. Why are the damn hallways so narrow to your room? I could barely get by a maids cart…seems like the fire regulations would be wider. Narrowest I have ever seen in any hotel....

"The hotel was okay no elevator. Pillows were hard and the beds uncomfortable. The bathroom door would creek when you open it . No A/C but I knew that before I booked it. We did have a fan in the room but it was so hot the fan did nothing. The breakfast was very nice as well as the service from the staff . Very close to the shops ."

"We had a good stay at The Palace Hotel, very friendly lady welcomed us. Our room was up 45 steps which wasn't ideal for us because of our age. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were at the rear of the hotel and the pigeons outside our window made getting to sleep a little difficult, but on the whole no problems. "The Whiskey Vault business runs a a bar restaurant plus a small hotel. The best of this accommodation is its convient town center location. The room we had is clean but space is really tight. When we arrived at around dinner time, the hotel receptionist was not there so we checked in with the staff at the bar.
