Your own personal coffee farm stay in Jardin, Colombia

  • Welcome to Finca Mariposa! Located just outside Jardín Antioquia. Many say the most captivating pueblo in all of Colombia! You will stay in our 3 bedroom mountain home, nestled within our coffee farm, overlooking the spectacular Andes mountains. Minutes from Jardín, you will enjoy the tranquillity of the Colombian countryside in your own private finca; surrounded by nature but spoiled by the comforts of a beautiful country home. The entire finca is yours to explore; including walking trails, view points and access to a private river and waterfall. The Finca is well equipped with luxurious bedding, fully equipped kitchen, beautiful modern bathrooms, laundry facilities and Wifi. Mariposa is entirely yours as private accomodation. You will be greeted in Jardin by our on site hosts Daniel and Andrea, who will transport you by jeep or lead you in your own vehicle to Finca Mariposa. Daniel and Andrea have lived in the region their whole lives and will be your "go to" source for everything you need during your stay. If you choose, they can provide you with a wide variety of eco/agro tourism experiences (coffee tours, amazing jeep excursions into the mountains, bird watching, horse back riding, hikes to spectacular 'cascades' aka waterfalls). Their guiding experience and knowledge of the area is outstanding. Although the food in Jardin is wonderful (see our guest package for recommendations) we highly recommend you spoil yourself with Andrea's delicious cooking. Her hearty home made meals are inexpensive and not to be missed during your stay. Her cooking easily rivals the best Colombian "typico" food you will find anywhere in the country.

Everything was Great. Unfortunately hot water in the master bath broke and we only had 1 bath wth hot water but hey…. Things happen. Over all the house was great, everything was fairly new and the view is amazing. Make sure you take mosquito repellent. You’re in the mountains. Would stay here again!

Everything we hoped!

If you want a rural experience in an idyllic, scenic and relaxing environment with access to shops and restaurants only 15 minutes away by tuk tuk then Finca Mariposa is that place. It is exactly as descibed and photographed. The owner and farm manager have great communication regarding both the property and recommendations for activities and restaurants.

Beautiful coffee ranch and a birder’s paradise

Finca Mariposa accommodations were thoughtfully designed and more luxurious than we expected. The host delivered detailed instructions about the property and the check in process was smooth and easy. The caretaker warmly welcomed us and immediately addressed our questions. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking on our own. As birders, we were delighted with the great variety of birds on the property and along the stream nearby. We encountered parrots, small toucans (toucanets), colorful tanagers, and hummingbirds. The drive into town is a bit long, but didn't discourage us from dining two evenings in Jardin during our stay. We would choose to stay here again when we return in the future.

The property is absolutely beautiful—my nieces and I had an amazing time both enjoying the house and exploring the charming town nearby. The rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms are modern and spotless. Daniel, the housekeeper, gave us a fascinating coffee tour—we learned so much and truly appreciated his hospitality.A few things to keep in mind before your stay: The property is a bit of a drive from Jardín, so it’s not convenient to head into town for every meal. I recommend bringing groceries or planning to prepare your own food. Transportation to and from the property needs to be arranged in advance. One evening, we had difficulty finding a ride back from Jardín and ended up taking one of the city’s many tuk-tuks. While it got us home, it was a bit of an adventure!Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would recommend the property to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway—just be sure to plan your transportation and meals ahead of time!

Farm Life in Jardín

Just 2.5 hours from MEDELLÍN is the beautiful town of Jardín and just a 15 minute ride into the mountains from town in Finca Mariposa. Words and photos don’t give the full magnitude of this amazing property and part of the world. Daniel and his family are the magic that will elevate your stay.

Authentic Colombia Home

Just as we had hoped the stay to be with fabulous views, great food cooked by Daniel and Andrea along with an informative coffee tour right on the property. The only down side was the main road was not accessible so we had to drive a detour route that added 15 minutes to the drive from town and you do need a 4 wheel car if driving.

Highlight of 2 weeks in Colombia

This property is absolutely stunning. Incredible views and tranquility. We all enjoyed walking the hillside and checking out the coffee plants, fruits and birds. It was hands down the highlight of our 2 weeks travelling around Colombia. Daniel is the best!! So kind, helpful and hard working. He brought us vine ripened bananas and let us pick a ripe pineapple....they were so unbelievably tasty, fruit will never be the same! We had a lunch prepared by his wife and it was one of the best meals we had our whole trip. Lovely people. Bug repellant is a must - mosquitos ate me alive when I was silly enough to do yoga on the grass and I didn't feel a thing untill after. Transportation takes 20 min from the town centre and it's a bumpy ride up the mountain. We hired both jeeps and tuk tuks and preferred the latter. WiFi was strong, though we did lose internet for 8 hrs, but that was the entire area and not the property's fault. The only area for improvement is the water for showers. We followed the directions to get hot water and it was hot, but at very low pressure. Pressure is good if you like a cold shower though! We will definitely be back - this is such a special place in the most beautiful part of Colombia.
