Mauna Lani, Auberge Collection

"Our trip to the Big Island was a last minute switch from Kauai due to storms. It was our first time on Hawaii Island, and we hadn't done any research in advance. The Mauna Lani turned out to be a perfect basecamp from which to explore the island's volcanos, beaches, oceans, tidepools, and history. It was luxurious without being fussy. The staff were almost without exception were warm and helpful. Our room had a beachfront view that was gorgeous, and a large lanai from which to enjoy it. I'm not sure if it was because the hotel was not at full capacity, but our room was very quiet, and our every need was met instantly upon request. We had so much fun!"

"What I liked the most about was the cleanness and hospitality of the staff working on the floor. What I didn’t like about it was the long check in process which took a while. We expected a faster check in with the baby but it simply didn’t happen and we had to wait until a room was available. There were no free umbrellas at the beach front. The chairs with the canopy were $175 each to rent for a day to stay out of the sun when not in the water."

"The location was wonderful. The unit was large and comfortable, but the interior was a bit old and dated. The appliances were older, but worked well. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. We enjoyed it very much and we would definitely recommend this property. It was a great value for the price"
