"Lovely stay at the hotel. Great service. Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast. Nice and close to all the shops and things to do. Downside - pillows really uncomfortable. We were in room 231 which was on the back and you did get noise from the tanoy but nothing terrible. "

"Really lovely stay at The Grand - hotel room is spacious, clean and comfortable and added touch of chocolates/anniversary card. We did receive our Expedia VIP benefit of £20 food/wine credit but actually didn't realise we had so would have been good for this to be noted. We also enjoyed the spa in the morning and the breakfast (though at £25 , make sure you're hungry). Lovely 1906 bar too with live music. Walkable to York. "

"The hotel is in attractive grounds and the bar food and breakfast were both excellent. Friendly staff. About 20 minutes walk into Pontefract. Plenty of buses too. We stayed on a Friday night and there was a wedding and a dinner dance at the hotel. Our bedroom was directly above the room used for the dinner dance. This made it a bit noisy, which could be a problem for some guests or if they had a noisier entertainer."

"It's a lovely hotel, great staff, nice rooms, and a good location. Breakfasts were good. Our only issue was the stairs. There is no lift in the hotel. Staff carried our luggage up when we checked in and brought it down when we checked out which was greatly appreciated, but if someone has mobility issues, the stairs are a challenge."
