"Very suitable for a stopover convenient to motorway. It is not luxurious , but perfectly adequate facilities, bed very comfortable. Probably our mistake but we found ourselves in a first floor room with no lift in the hotel. We shall need to be more careful in future. Easy booking system . "

"This was a very cute and fun place to stay at the end of our trip to England. The staff is so friendly and our room was comfortable. The spaces in the hallways were quite tight, but we enjoyed the rustic feel of the place and our English breakfasts. Very convenient to sightseeing, as it is right down the block from incredible York Minster. "

"The setting is unique; rooms within an inn, within inches of dining customers. The pub closes early enough that their revelry didnā€™t keep us awake. We just couldnā€™t freely use the window for light and air because itā€™s anything but private. But we will remember having slept near Guy Fawkesā€™ birthplace. "

"Check out on the Hotels.com website says 12:00 noon check out but its 11:00 am, main carpets need cleaning and a little paint in the room wouldn't go a miss Toilet takes required to pump the flush. TV signal on and off. Would stay again even though a few minor points.also first time ever I've seen a insect trap in the room at the side of the Bed and I've travelled the world."

"The room was a good size with plenty of room for 2 people to stay comfortably. There was a fridge with a large bottle of drinkable tap water. The bed was okay but I have a bad back so brought a single topper with me. The staff were lovely and helpful. The TV remote wasnā€™t working so the lady swapped it for me. She also got me an extra bottle of water every day."

"A nice break away for a few days in York. The hotel is very central right next to Bootham Bar. Room large, cleans and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and large portions. The only problem was no parking on site and having to park at a nearby carpark cost Ā£34 per day !!"

"Fabulous location opposite the end of the Shambles and within easy walking distance of all of Yorkā€™s attractions. Only one vegetarian option on the menu and limited selection of cask ales. There was no room cleaning for the 3 nights we stayed there - toilet rolls and drink replenishment had to be asked for downstairs. Cups were cardboard ā€˜to-goā€™ variety and there was no hairdryer.
