"Great place to stay"

"My family generally enjoyed this traditional Japanese experience. The staff was absolutely wonderful, attentive, and friendly. The onsen on our deck was lovely, and we enjoyed our allotted 30 minutes in a private onsen elsewhere on the property. However, our room was old and smelled strongly of mildew. There was water damage on the ceiling and the wall. I opened the windows, but it only mitigated the smell so much. The futon mats were also very uncomfortable to sleep on. Even my kids complained about how uncomfortable they were, and they can usually sleep anywhere. We had a poor night's sleep and were happy to check out the next day. Finally, the food was not to our liking. I recognize this is probably just a cultural difference, but we are very adventurous eaters and we felt we needed to choke down our 8-course dinner as to not offend the staff. Overall, we appreciated the ryokan experience and highly praise the staff, but we would not return to this location. "

"A real luxury stay in the mountains of Odawara. Best part of our 14 day trip to Japan so far. The breakfast buffé and the dinner buffé was great, not excellent but compared to other Japaneese hotels I stayed in on other trips this one beats them all. The Onsen and the pool area was also a really nice plus. The hotel rents out swimshirts if your travelcompanion have tattoos, costs 1100 Yen."

"It’s located just a one-minute walk from the train station and overlooks the river. There are plenty of great restaurants nearby. The facilities are extremely clean and very quiet. The breakfast is excellent, with a wide variety of choices."

"We had a room with a private bath on the balcony. Our room was very clean and well appointed. My husband and I had separate single beds - not sure if I made a mistake with the booking or if that was standard. The location of the hotel is stunning. The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. There was a shuttle bus from the local train station which we didn’t know until a couple of days before our trip. The included teppinyaki dinner was one of our favourite dinners in our whole time in Japan. No tattoos allowed in the public baths, but the private bath was perfect for me. "

"Very comfortable spacious room. Love the private deep soaker tub on the balcony with a view on trees and plants, very relaxing. The free self-serve bar with varied choices of alcoolic and non-alcoolic drinks was also a unique feature that was an nice bonus."
