"Brilliant stay! The staff were very friendly and attentive and were happy to upgrade my room free of charge after requesting a room with a bath. The room (27) was spacious and clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was clean and shower had a good water pressure. The food at the restaurant was great and reasonably priced (pork cutlet and espresso creme brulee highly recommended). The booking offered a complementary breakfast of toast, jams, yoghurt, cereals, fruit etc and had a decent selection. Really nice walking/running routes behind the hotel leading off into the countryside also. Its a pity that hotel customers are not allowed to use the gym and pool however without paying extra for it. This was not made clear upon booking and I was slightly disappointed by this. Also would be nice to ditch the small single use toiletry minis and opt for more eco friendly shampoo/shower gel refill dispensers in the shower. Overall great stay and would 100% come back when next working in the area."

"Gorgeous cottage in a peaceful setting! Really enjoyed our little break here and it's just a short walk to the bus stop that runs a service into Bishop Auckland. There is also a playground a short distance away!"

"Glad and Kenny gave us a really nice welcome when we arrived even though it was late. They showed us round the property which was absolutely spotless. When it was light the next day we could see the lovely garden over breakfast. The house is in a secluded part of the garden. Really enjoyed our stay as we went into Durham for the day. We will definitely visit again. "

"Pleasant stay. Clean room. A not too loud alarm did disturb our sleep a little but it must have been nothing untoward? - fire regulations said to wait in bedroom until otherwise advised... fortunately no such advice was forthcoming!"

"We have recently just got back from a week's stay in this adorable cottage. At 1st we were a little wary of the stairs as they are steeper than your standard ones but this is most certainly no reason to be put off. Everything else most certainly made up for it. John and Nicola went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was everything we could dream of. Little extras on arrival. And an amazing hot tub. We have come home relaxed and already booking again for next year. A real little gem and amazing value. Thank you x"
