"I truly cannot express in words the genuine hospitality that Antonio and his family extended to us new Turista Americano. My wife and I that is. So, the next guest can have a unique experience as we did, I won’t reveal all and spoil it for you. However, it was our very first time in Scalea, Calabria as well as Italy. Although this is a VRBO our experience was not one of a business transaction. Antonio treated us as guest in his home and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable for the 8 days we spent there. For those shy trying to communicate in Italian, he will make sure it's not a problem. If you want a true Neapolitan Margherita “pizza” in Scalea he can tell you the place. Beautiful historic sites, he can direct you to that too.Casa Marea – The apartment was exceptionally clean, also were the linens and towels. The washing machine perfecto! Both bathrooms functioned perfectly. Every appliance we felt we needed served our needs. The balcony view! That peaceful, serene view alone would have been enough if that’s all we had but of course it wasn’t. The support from Antonio and his family as well as the comfort of the apartment are worth much, much more than the small amount to rent it. Hopefully we were good guest as well! Thank you again, Antionio, Paola, and Fabrizio. This will not be our last visit to you. We will return. Your hospitably and guidance is one of the main highlights of our trip to Italy. "What a lovely experience to be in a restored 11th century castle. The restaurant has a limited menu but you will not be disappointed. Everything is homemade including pastas and local cheese production. Italian meats are made during the slow season by the workers at the hotel. The view of the valley from the back door of the dining room is spectacular. This is a hidden jewel in Calabria. "

"The hotel was great from the food to the service. Everyone was very kind and treated us like family. They even picked us up at the train station in Paola and drove us to attractions we wanted to see! We couldn’t have asked for better service and a better experience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who plans on visiting this area with their loved ones. "

"The property is a big mansion with lots of rooms so it’s like a B&B style . The couple of the house were very great with me. The night that I came I was late. The man stayed up to open the gate for me to come in with my car. They cook the breakfast for me in their kitchen. The room was nice , had a pool and a nice view from up top of the mountains . "

"We had an amazing stay! Checked in a little late in the afternoon and pool was closing, but they made an exception and allowed up to enjoy the pool. Drinks on the pool deck were amazing! The beach club was fabulous and food was great! We were treated like royalty! Truly impressed and will definitely visit again! Scalea has beautiful beaches and now one of our favorite spots! "
