The Siren Hotel, an Ash Hotel

"This is a hard hotel to review because it’s unlike any other hotel I’ve stayed in. The absolute best thing it has going for it is location location location. Easy walk to any sports event or concert, It’s in an old historic building and a true boutique hotel. If you love the feel of an older dimly lit classic hotel this place is a must. If you prefer newer more modern hotels you might hate this place. If you book a small room be ready they are super small. If you book a Parlor room with a king bed or above they more normal sized. There are no refrigerators and if you need ice the ice machine is in the basement. So if you’re on the 12th floor (or any floor for that matter) and want ice for your drinks be prepared for a journey. I hate to even make this place sound bad because again it’s just different and old school in cool way. I think a lot of us are so spoiled with having everything at our fingertips it’s easy to get annoyed at little things that we take for granted. The two bars in the hotel are classics and very cool. Make a reservation if you want to get in because they’re that popular. Staff is amazing, rooms are clean, bathrooms and showers are nice. Just be ready for a different experience and you will love it. Oh and my wife told me to tell you the coffee at the coffee shop in the lobby is horrible and expensive. I had tea and it was great. Me personally I like more modern hotels but a 4 minute walk to Ford Field is well worth it and it’s an experience."

"Initial room was smokey, so they changed our room. The best thing about the hotel is the free shuttle service available to take you around the area. Richard, the driver, was really helpful and passionate about his job. Great service."

"The room was very nice and very clean. The problem I experienced was with check-in. I got to the hotel at about 3 PM and was told there was no early check-in, which I completely understand. However, the line was so long that it wrapped around the hotel lobby and it took us more than an hour to check in. We were supposed to eat dinner near Ford Field and attend the Ed Sheeran concert. Check-in took so long that we missed our dinner. I travel frequently and have never experienced such a long delay for check-in before. It was really disappointing."

"The staff at check-in and check out were incredibly friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. It would be nice if they could somehow soundproof the room more because the street sounds, even on the sixth floor, made it hard to fall asleep. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet the next day and the staff there was also very friendly. I downgraded my review from excellent for the hotel and for the staff because my key was bent from the valet staff. They also were incredibly friendly. However, at my first stop at a rest area on the way home, I had trouble getting my key out of the ignition. I also had trouble getting it back in. The key was visibly bent from the valet parking. It was 100% fine when I left the car to be parked by the valet parking."
