"The room was clean and had just enough space for 2 people, maybe not for people with bigger/larger amounts of luggage than 1/person. The hotel was located within walking distance of Nijo Castle and to Kyoto Gyoen National Garden where the Kyoto Imperial Palace is located. The Garden and the Imperial Palace grounds are free to enter, so it was a very pleasant experience regardless of the rain. If you are looking for a quieter, more laid-back area to stay in with food options, I would recommend staying at Agora Nijo."

"Second time in the hotel , even we asked to be upgraded they offered just with extra charge . Breakfast doesn’t have the variety I would expect including lack of western products and vegetables . Service is good in general and location excellent . Room size is not too big for superior double All together price wise is reasonable"

"The hotel was very clean in a nice neighborhood with a market close by. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was Japanese themed and great way to start each day. The onsen tub in the room provided the settings of a Japanese onsen with privacy. Would love to stay here again."

"The room was clean and comfortable. However the room was fairly small. The AC worked well and was quiet. The Nespresso was a nice touch but a pot of drip coffee works just fine for me. Just pour and go in seconds. There was always a line up in the morning because 1 of the 2 Nespresso machines was down. The adjacent bakery is amazing. Laundry was handy particularly with the live status app. Subway station is right below. We enjoyed our stay and would come back again."

"My son and I stayed at Ben's Guesthouse for four nights in September 2026. Our room was clean and plenty spacious. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and totally functional, nice shower/bath. The air conditioning was comfortable and reliable. There is a strict no-shoes policy which is enforced by placing your footwear in designated slots before you enter beyond the office area. It's easy to adjust to this policy, and it translates into very clean floors throughout. Ben's is in a quiet and clean neighborhood, and particularly quiet at night, as all the stores on that particular street close early. There is still plenty going on at all hours within walking distance. We felt really lucky to have discovered Ben's Guesthouse. If I ever return to Kyoto, that's where I'll stay, beyond a doubt."
