## Emplacement
Located at the foot of the Esterel massif, Saint-Raphaël attracts especially for its sandy beaches and water sports. However, this seaside resort in the Var has several historical treasures such as its remains of 12th-century ramparts and religious buildings. In the old town, walk through cobbled streets to the Romanesque church of San Rafeu whose watchtower offers a beautiful view of the city, the bay and the Esterel massif. In the former presbytery of the church takes place today the museum of prehistory and underwater archaeology and its remarkable permanent collections. Dating back to the 19th century, the Notre-Dame-de-la-Victoire basilica located in the old port district stands out for its Roman-Byzantine style.
Other attractions of the old town of Saint-Raphaël, its market with flowers and vegetables whose scents have equal only the explosion of colors. After strolling on the old port and the waterfront, head to the Bonaparte garden for a pleasant walk in the shade of palm trees and whose view of the old port and the bay is worth the trip!
Saint-Raphaël is also a starting point of the Corniche d'Or, this winding road that connects Cannes by the seaside. Over 40 kilometres, beautiful landscapes are followed justifying the many stops to immortalize the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea.
