"Couple of niggles. Nothing to do with The pub/hotel, just us. No shelf in shower to put shampoo etc on. not enough cabinet/table tops to put your 'stuff' on for a 3 night stay.
Room was on the colder side, which suited my wife. I would have preferred it a little warmer, but I am a person who feels the cold.
That aside, we would definitely return. The staff were friendly and great, did all they could to make us feel welcome. Home made biscuits on first night, a chocolate assortment on second night was a lovely touch.
Room was spot on. Fittings done to a very high standard.
Regarding the food, not a lot on the menu, but cooked to a very good standard. The crumble and creme anglaise was the best I've ever had for dessert. Breakfast was good, however for a claim to be a five star establishment they could have provided pastries such as croissants etc.
In what I would call the bar area, it was small, only 3 tables in front of a proper fire. if you don't manage to get one of those tables, there are other areas but you feel as if you're being pushed out of the way.
That said, we thoroughly enjoyed the three nights we were there.
In a nutshell, helpful friendly staff, good, although limited food, good rooms and very relaxing."
