Clifton Guest House

"Great location, with loads of parking in the area and really close to the station (handy to get to Newcastle) and the seaside. The staff was helpful when we had an issue with the check in, and was always responsive to our requests. The room was alright, even though the bed wasn't exactly comfy, and the timed fan in the bathroom wasn't ideal at night. The best thing overall was the cafe, in which we went for all the three days. Hats off! The staff was amazing, and they could accommodate our gluten intolerance needs. Also, I am still thinking about that toffee cake."
Royal Station Hotel

"Called in advance to request a lower floor; and the receptionist, Annabelle was wonderful: making sure that we got a lower floor room, and just being very welcome. Hotel itself is a little dated decor wise, but is clean. Was very excited to find out the room had a little fridge in it. Perfect for a wee bottle of milk for my tea, and our water bottles. Room was very warm so we slept with a window open: word of warning: it’s very loud well into the early hours: and we were staying on weeknights. I can sleep through anything so was fine: but if you’re a light sleeper: it’s not for you. Perfect location: can access from the railway station. Just along the road from the Life Museum. Short journey to metro centre. And a walk to all main attractions (including the football stadium if you like that sort of thing) There was a room service menu: we didn’t get anything from it: but prices were reasonable. All in all, a good stay, and would stay again"

"Hotel was good. Used the main restaurant as part of DBB package, food was reasonable for price paid. 5th floor room. Hood amenities, shower water pressure could be better. All.in all. Good for the single night trip."
