The Neighborhood:
Pajaro Dunes is where the Pajaro Valley meets the white sandy beaches on this secluded strip of Monterey Bay. This expansive gated community stretches along the coast, where this long stretch of uniquely designed buildings have been laid out between the grass shrouded sand dunes and the Watsonville Slough. It is home to a variety of wildlife. Walking paths will lead you in all different directions where you can explore the vast natural beauty of this unique setting. Within this beach community you can take a walk on the wind rippled beaches where you will likely find a white sand dollar or two along the way. You can admire the wildlife sanctuary spotting herons along the lagoon and sea life like dolphins and sealions in the bay. For added activity take on a game of tennis, horseshoes or volleyball as the resort includes use of eight tennis courts and nature trails. As the sun sets build a bonfire and warm up as the night wind cools the air.

Always enjoy, third time staying here, great spot

My son and I had a wonderful weekend at this condo. It has all of the things we needed for a great stay: the place was clean, the view was perfect, we got to listen to the ocean from the bedroom and living room, and the amenities were just right. We would love to come back again.

I stayed at Pajaro Dunes a number of years ago. This time it was looking a little shabby, weatherbeaten, and run down. Our condo (Number 287) was listed as having an ocean view. The ocean view was from the living room window. The view from the deck was of the other condos. There was a smoker below us (we were on the 2nd floor) so the bedroom door to the deck could not be left open at night. Also, loud music reverberated thru the floor from the unit below. The electrical power went off twice while we were there. For multiple hours. The gatekeeper of the place was very cavalier about the outage. He basically said “just deal with it”. He had his generator going, so had plenty of power. The net on the tennis court was falling apart and grass was growing thru the asphalt of the basketball court. One of the skillets in the kitchen had been put away with grease still in it. The carpet could use a good cleaning. The road into Pajaro Dunes is in god awful shape. Full of pot holes. Dunes ownership should partner with the agricultural interests in the area to get it repaved. Additionally I was unable to determine how to pay the 2nd half of the lodging bill via the VBRO website so had to call the property manager and ask what to do. All told, it was not worth the money. I would no longer recommend Pajaro Dunes

Great location and very nicely maintained. We have stayed at other oceanfront places and invariably all have sand due to location. But this one was so cleanly maintained no sand at all anywhere.
