Comfort and Ambiance

Nestle into the tree tops in this beautiful cabin, offering ambiance and comfort to perfect your Blue Ridge vacation. This centrally-located home has three wide, covered decks for enjoying the great outdoors, as well as upscale features inside and plenty of beds and bathrooms.

Being in the mountains means convening with nature, whether you're gathered around the fire pit, dining al fresco, or just chilling on the porch with a good book. Do it all here at Hibernation Station, while enjoying the convenience of a beautifully-equipped home to call your own.

Entering the main level, you'll find a spacious open floor plan, with a comfortable living area including a TV and inviting stone fireplace. Just flip the switch for ambiance! The dining area is adjacent, with a table for 8 and extra seating at the wide kitchen island. The lovely, updated kitchen has granite countertops, stainless appliances (including a dishwasher) and is well-stocked with all the kitchenware and supplies you'll need for entertaining and family meals. These areas are surrounded by decking, so you're never more than a few steps from that outdoor living you've been looking forward to.

The master bedroom is another great feature on the main level, with a comfy king-size bed and private bathroom. The master bath features a dual vanity, large whirlpool tub and separate walk-in-shower. Step straight out onto the deck from the master, to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning, or a late-night toddy. There's an additional half bath on the main level as well.

Upstairs find two additional bedrooms, each furnished with three beds, for a total of four twin beds, one queen and one king upstairs, with a large bathroom to share. But that's not all! The third level downstairs has a game room with a pool table, an additional full bath, and direct access to the lower-level deck.

Location, Location, Location

Hibernation Station is centrally located just off 221. From this home base you can easily enjoy a huge variety of attractions and outdoor recreation. Downtown West Jefferson is only 10-12 minutes away, with restaurants and terrific shopping, including antique stores, art galleries and wine tasting. This is small-town Americana at its finest. Exploring Main Street, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time. Here you'll find the famous Ashe Co. Cheese Factory, with an old-fashioned country store. There's Craft Bistro for fine dining, two breweries and even two movie theaters!

Drive a little further to Boone or Blowing Rock, for an even wider assortment of dining, entertainment and shopping options. Tour the campus of Appalachian State University, or visit our craft breweries. And remember that here in Blue Ridge Country, the journey is as satisfying as the destination, with gorgeous scenery at every turn.

In spring or summer, the New River offers tubing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Warmer months are also a perfect time for horseback riding, and sightseeing or bicycling along the Blue Ridge Parkway. In the winter enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing or ice skating at one of the many area resorts. West Jefferson also has one of the region's most scenic and well-maintained public golf courses, Mountain Aire.

Vacation at Hibernation Station

Hibernation Station was a beautiful, clean, cozy and well stocked cabin! We had a great time relaxing inside, playing pool, enjoying the outdoors while relaxing on the porches or hanging out by the fire pit. I would highly recommend this cabin for a great vacation!

Location location location

Comfortable with everything you need. Very clean and private. The porches are very inviting and the evenings were lovely. Would recomend! The Bumpus's dogs were a bonus as you made your way up the to house.

Perfect get away

We arrived with snow! The house was just perfect. So well equipped. Tastefully decorated, including touches of Fall. Everything about this house is comfort. While we didn't get to enjoy the very conveniently located fire pit, due to HEAVY winds, we do plan to come back to make that possible. I cannot say enough about this location.

Beautiful Place

Christmas tree shopping trip

Property was in an easy to find location, great for visiting West Jefferson, Boone and Blowing Rock. Very clean. Furniture was very comfortable (beds, chairs and couch). Beautiful view from porch and very well stocked with everything you could need for a great vacation. Will definitely stay here again.

Amazing

Hibernation Station was amazing! It was very clean, plenty of room and fully stocked with everything you need to cook. We stayed there over Thanksgiving and loved it! The game room for the kids was a hit, the lights and fire pit were perfect for making s’mores or just hanging out. It was also decorated for the holiday season! We definitely will return!

A beautiful and well appointed cabin retreat

We had an excellent experience in this beautiful and relaxing property tucked away in the woods. The furniture and decor were just enough and we enjoyed the fire pit, the full kitchen and comfortable beds. We loved the secure decks and outdoor areas where the kids could play safely and be supervised easily. We hope to rent this place again! A perfect respite, even on a rainy day!!!

Well Appointed House in West Jeff

House was great for our group of cyclists. Plenty of beds, bathrooms and places to hang out. Driveway is not for the faint of heart.

Hibernation station

My family and I loveeeed this cabin. It was very clean and smelled good. This cabin was nothing less than excellent. This was our first time staying in West Jefferson and we will sure be returning to this cabin. We enjoyed the great view this cabin had to offer. The kids loved the play room downstairs. The driveway is steep but not to bad to drive up and down. My family and I enjoyed staying here and would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a nice cozy place❤️

Short but sweet

This property was centrally located, very nice, and had plenty of beds as long as people did not mind sleeping in the same room. The road is pretty steep, so I would be careful in the winter time. Otherwise, this property and everything we needed. Thank you for having us.

Hibernating at Hibernation Station

Hibernation Station is such a wonderful property and very accommodating. So clean, Kitchen well stocked, cozy den, fun board games and playing pool downstairs (way too cold, snowy and frigid wind to play outside this last weekend . ❄️❄️❄️ Be prepared for steep driveway and you definitely need 4-wheel drive in winter if calling for snow. Would love to go back in the Fall so we could enjoy the firepit. West Jefferson is such a quaint little town with great shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend staying at this cabin and visiting West Jefferson!! Suzanne Seagrove, NC

Lovely cabin in the woods

This cabin was great. It was beautifully decorated, well equipped, spacious, and homey. We rented it the week between Christmas and New years and there were Christmas lights and decorations too. We expected snow but we had an unexpected heat wave. That was probably for the best because the drive way in is steep and our van was big. It's close to town and shopping. The kids had a great time playing outside and exploring. Because it was warmer we hung outside a lot and made lots of fires in the fire pit. It was a great vacation and I totally recommend this cabin.

In love with property Hibernation Station.

Excellent property, comfortable, amazing floor plan, gorgeous, cozy, and had everything what we needed and more. The Drive way is paved but steep, because the weather was great I drove a car (Camry) and have no problem driving in. The only thing is the dirty road to get yo the cabin it’s not well maintained, but have no problems driving on. Overall Thai property is gorgeous. We will rent it again.

Clean Comfortable and Quiet

Excellent location. Close to West Jefferson and Boone. Downtown West Jefferson is very friendly with a large variety of shops. The cabin is well equipped, clean, comfortable, and very quiet location. We enjoyed the fire pit.
