"The location is excellent for access to Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay etc. The bus to either runs right outside and you can easily take great walks to either. The road outside the house could do with traffic calming though and the main road at the back can get noisy. The house is great, just the job for us and big garden for kids to play in. Comfortable living room and good kitchen, maybe a couple more saucepans, but had everything we needed. We had a great holiday there and would recommend it."

"The Dolphin is a lovely pub with helpful staff and a great position in Whitby. Parking was an issue and we had to park at a car park about half a mile from the pub. It was very busy when we arrived, but once upstairs the noise was minimal. We had a harbour view room which was large and beautiful. The breakfast was lovely with really helpful staff. Our only two criticisms were that they were having problems with the gas supply so some of the breakfast items were not available (mushrooms, fried eggs) and the chandelier in our room was hanging from the ceiling by its wire."

"A beautiful hotel with great amenities but found it is vastly overpriced. Evening meal was average, staff very attentive. Room was a good size but mould around the shower tray and dusty door. Breakfast had good choices although the cook breakfast was just warm. On check out commented to the reception staff there was a humming noise like a water pump or generator going most of the early hour's .. Just said someone else has mention that. A pleasant stay but won't return"

First night was lovely, second night, which I know the owners cannot do anything about, but 2 smokers booked in and because we were near the front door, we were disturbed every 30-45 mins with them going out for a cigarette and being outside talking at 6.30am Saturday morning. "The room was described as a “comfort room “ we loved it! It was surprisingly spacious enough, beautiful decor and soft furnishings. The bedding and towels quality were exceptional. Hospitality tray and outlook were lovely. If I had to give a small negative, there was a slight odour in the bathroom, from probably the cloths/ mops used to clean, a bit “ sweaty socks” type of odour which lingered. On another practical preference negative, the restaurant is beautiful, ambient and amazing service from the young well trained and mentored staff….but….the wine glasses were a let down, please provide sophisticated wine glasses? That would be great."
