Ten seconds after coming through the front door of the cabin and looking through the cathedral ceiling- to- floor window, you will know why we call it Purple Haze. We love Jimi, but it's not about him. It's the amazing view out across the Appalachian Mountains, well into Virginia, evoking 'purple mountains majesty.' This spacious luxury log cabin home has 3 BR, 2.5 baths, plus loft. Located between Boone and Blowing Rock just 1.7 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The main living area is showcased by a wall of windows and exposed beams accented by a corner stone fireplace with gas logs. Flat screen TV, hardwood floors, comfortable furnishings with plenty of seating. Amenities include AC, cable, broadband internet, smart TV, fully equipped galley kitchen with both a drip coffee maker and a Keurig, a water filter, blender, baking pans, muffin tins, mixer, and anything else needed to prepare your meals and desserts and a dining room table that seats 8. Easy access to large deck with additional dining furniture, umbrella, gas grill and hot tub. Master suite is located on the main level with a private bath and deck access. The loft has 2 twin beds, a leather sofa, reading nook and great views. Downstairs has a den with a queen size sleeping sofa, TV with video, 2 bedrooms with queen beds, a shared bathroom, laundry room, a covered deck with spectacular views.
(Winter visitors: 4 wheel drive or chains are highly recommended)
The convenient location offers something for everyone. Some of the best day hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains are within 15 minutes. Hike to great views or waterfalls with swimming holes. For endurance hikers, the cabin is 1/2 mile off the Mountain to Sea Trail. For cyclists, the Blue Ridge Parkway is 1.7 miles away, but there are also many mountain bike trails. White water rafting is available nearby.
The house is located on a rural, dead end, paved street that has very little traffic and is a great, safe environment for kids and pets. You are in the rural mountains, yet it is just a beautiful 15 minute drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway to the charming village of Blowing Rock. There you will find fine dining and great shopping. Or you may prefer the lively college town of Boone only 15 minutes away. Here you will find night-life and interesting, unique restaurants and shops. For the kids, the Tweetsie Railroad amusement park is a short 10 minute drive, and a large playground in the heart of Blowing Rock is another short drive.

Mountain Paradise

Purple Haze was one of our favorite VRBO properties ever!! The location was perfect for many nearby activities including Blowing Rock and Tweetsie Railroad. Linda was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The house is beautiful and very well stocked. The layout is perfect for large family groups. We would definitely stay again!

This cabin was beautiful! Secluded and private but also near downtown Boone and Blowing Rock. The kitchen has everything you need for everyday living. Has a very large dining room table which was great for family dining and playing games at night. I would definitely stay there again.

Fun Mountain Weekend

Loved the view at this property! Was close to everything in Boone and Blowing Rock. Kitchen had all the things we needed and made us feel at home. We would definitely stay again.

Great Mountain Cabin

Everything we needed for our weekend stay was provided. The location is very convenient to Tweetsie, Boone, an Blowing Rock. There was adequate parking ang plenty of space for our party of 7. Absolutely no complaints about anything.

Mountain getaway

We've made an early December trip to the mountains our tradition for the last several years and Purple Haze is our go to place to stay. We absolutely love the cabin, the view, and the proximity to town. Can't wait to get back next year!

Perfect cabin!

We spent 5 nights and loved every moment. Perfect location, just a few minutes to blowing rock and Boone. The view is beautiful and peaceful, and so relaxing just sitting and watching the clouds roll by while listening to the chirping birds. Hope to come back next year!

Awesome views

Great property with awesome views. It was quiet but still easy to get to either Blowing Rock or Boone. Comfortable and decks are great for relaxing. Kitchen has everything you need. Hope to get back again.

Love Purple Haze

My wife and I have stayed at this property several times now and have loved every one. It's a beautiful home with spectacular mountain views. Secluded enough to give you the privacy you want but only a short ride into town. Highly recommend!

Wonderful weekend with family!

We have been renting cabins in the mountains for 15 years. Purple Haze has by far the most gorgeous views! It was freezing this weekend but the fireplace kept us toasty and the 25-30 year olds enjoyed the hot tub! Very well stocked and accommodating! We will most definitely be back!

Beautiful cabin with a fantastic view!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Purple Haze! The cabin is charming and we loved looking out at the amazing views while we rested, worked on puzzles and played games. The kids loved watching for the hummingbirds that visited the feeder and my father in law even saw deer one morning. There was more than enough room for four adults and two kids and everywhere we went was an easy distance from the cabin. Thank you so much for sharing your place with us!

Wonderful Views

Really want to thank the owner for allowing us to stay in their beautiful home. The area was so nice and quite and the views from the home facing the valley below are wonderful. There were deer in the back yard every morning and late afternoon, including a new fawn. The house was spotless and had everything needed to enjoy a nice relaxing week. Spent most of our time exploring the area and visiting all the points of interest. We would love to rent it again next year.

Beyond perfect and breathtaking!

This was our first vacation in 3 years and it was an absolute slice of Heaven! From the moment my husband and 2 pups arrived, it was absolutely perfect, and the views were breathtaking (from the back deck and throughout the neighborhood). Million dollar views! The sunrises and sunsets never got old. We enjoyed every minute of staying at this cabin and all the cozy amenities (including the hot-tub, fireplace, and the adorable Christmas tree!). The town of Boone and Blowing Rock are ~15-20 minutes away and have just about anything you'd need. And the host was very quick to respond any questions I had. We would absolutely love to come back again. Thank you for letting us stay at your sweet cabin!
