"We spent three lovely days at the villa up in the mountains. It was full of rustic charm and very peaceful (the only sounds in the evening were goats and birds!) The building has lots of history and has a pool and an en site convenience store which is really useful. The breakfast was incredible! It was served on the balcony of our room. I’d highly recommend that you have it when you stay! The owner is also very helpful and communicative. I had several questions throughout the stay and always received timely and informative responses. "

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Ariadne, which was well equipped with everything you might need. Admittedly, the drive to reach the villa is quite hairy but you are rewarded with spectacular views, peace and a cool climate (2-3oC cooler than the coast). The pool was perfect for a dip and the villa sympathetically decorated. We frequently visited Kalyves and enjoyed meals in Vamos. Susanne and Marianna were incredibly responsive to all our queries - they couldn't have been more helpful. A lovely, peaceful and authentic stay in Crete."

"What can we say The House in The Sun, for us it was pure paradise.The views are amazing and left myself and Julie breathless with their stunning colours and beauty.Watching the sunrise and sunset the colours changing on the Olive Groves and hills.What could be more wonderful than sitting by the pool watching swallows swoop down to drink.The owners cats with their individual personalities are adorable and wander around with grace.The property is immaculately clean, lovely comfy bed and gorgeous fresh linen.The owners Kathie and Chris are fantastic and a wonderful couple and are there to offer advice and assistance if you need it.Overall this truly is a remarkable property and area that will steal your heart and you will leave a little bit of it when you depart."
Spectacular Stone Villa with Pool in Forest and Great Sea & Mountain Views

"Loved this place. View was spectacular. Stavros was helpful & responsive. He met us at 4:30 am, gave us a map and tips on things to see, and provided some snacks. There are some steep hills to get up here, but we did it in a regular car. I’m an A/C girl through and through, but we didn’t need it - the stone house keeps cool and there are many windows for a nice breeze. The pool and patio and balconies are lovely and we spent most of our time there. And I loved the amazing large bathtub!! Be sure to check out the sunrise from the upstairs balcony. "

"We had a fantastic stay at Villa Asteria for a week at the end of May - peaceful, private, and a great base for exploring the Cretan countryside. The villa was clean and well equipped especially the heated pool which we used daily. The Wifi works well on the first floor but we did notice that it was a little weak in the ground floor bedrooms - not a major issue but worth knowing if you plan to work or stream. We had breakfast everyday on the terrace where the views were breathtaking. Samantha and Jerry are very helpful and responsive hosts even leaving us some basic provisions upon arrival which was much appreciated.Tip: arrive in daylight if you can as finding the Villa for the first time will be easier. We rented a Fiat Panda which managed fine on the roads but a slightly bigger car would be more comfortable and stick with well known rental car companies for easier experience.The grocery shop is a 10 minute drive. For meals out we went to Chania town and loved Pulse Vegan and To Stachi.Elafonissi Beach was a trip highlight - worth the 2 Hour drive, especially if you stay till after 3pm when the crowds thin out. Parking is easy and a few places to eat just walking distance from the beach.Highly recommended - we'd happily return! "
