Tons of mold in the bathroom, none of us wanted to shower in it. Conveniently located. Parking was good

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Great location just off the highway, great prices, and very friendly staff. The rooms are simple but clean enough. Could use some TLC (loose screws, gaps in floorboards, etc.) Bit nothing major. Would stay again as a quick stopover.
Check in was a breeze. The person who checked us in was friendly and welcoming.
We got a deluxe suite so we had a kitchenette to make and eat supper. Unfortunately there were not enough utensils to cook/eat with so we ended up ordering pizza.
The room was clean, but the bathroom was in need of proper repair. The tub and floor had paint or caulk dropped on them, there were missing tiles and water damage to the bottom of the door. Someone had tried to make some repairs but they were not done properly or well. This was an improvement to the last time we stayed at this motel when the tub/shower was not usable.
The beds were comfortable and we had a good sleep.
The parking lot is still pretty rough with bumps and potholes, but the parking directly in front of our room was very convenient.
Everything was great. The room was clean, the property was well lit and the staff was very kind and helpful. The only gripe I had was the air conditioning smelled a bit off. I had to turn it off at some point during the night because it made the room smell funky, but once I turned it off, the room smelled clean again.
The check in staff was very nice, the check in space was new and clean. No concerns there.
The motel appeared to be empty except for one vehicle and our room was right next to theirs and the next person to check in was right next to us. I found this odd as I would assume, guests would be spaced out for privacy and noise reduction.
The room appeared clean like in the photos. The smell in the room, however, was quite appalling. It was a combination of old β60βs furniture smell and potent vinegar based cleaning products. Our room had a kitchenette and there was some lingering spice smells as well. We spent 2 hours in the room to try to get accustomed to the smell. We ultimately left and stayed at a different hotel.
Efforts to improve was I assume was an old building were noted.
Room was basic but good no extras. Bed was comfortable. We parked right in front of our room. Fort Nelson had a lot of snow this winter(2025/6), huge snow bank in the parking lot blocked Road noise. Also created a huge Lake as it is melting.
