"Our stay at Hilltop Vacation Rental was comfortable overall, and we stayed in Room #1. The room offered a wonderful view with plenty of livable space, and the adjoining patio was definitely a great perk. The location was convenient and provided easy access to town, which made getting around simple. The host was very courteous, and the key entry process was flawless. We also enjoyed the common area, including the indoor pool room. And if you enjoy a bit of local character, there are roosters roaming around the property. We didn’t happen to see the famous cat that many other reviewers mentioned, but we’re sure he was out making his rounds. There were a few drawbacks worth mentioning. The bathroom did not include washcloths, and towels were somewhat limited, with one bath towel and one hand towel provided per person. However, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were available. The room itself is quite dated and could benefit from some upgrades. The property is large and has a lot of potential, though the exterior could use a good spring cleaning and pressure washing to freshen things up. Overall, we did enjoy our stay and would recommend it based on our experience. We would rate it a 3.5 out of 5"

"I would have given a higher score if it weren’t for the unwelcomed surprise received at check in. We were informed that our card would be charged for a “Resort fee” that was never mentioned when we made our selection while booking our trip. We will use a different source for future trips. "

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My ohana and I stayed at this beautiful charming home. It was close to UH Hilo, shops and eateries, the mall, airport, the mall...central to everything."

"This home is exceptionally well cared for and thoughtfully stocked with everything you need for a beach vacation. Even the hand soaps smelled amazing! The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided were high quality and much better than the cheap toiletries you usually find in hotels. The location was also excellent, very convenient to many of the best spots around Hilo.The only downside was the noise during rain. Raindrops hitting the metal roof/storage area outside created a loud clanging sound, almost like drums. Since the master bedroom is located right next to it, the noise was very noticeable at night and made it difficult to sleep when it rained."

"This is a beautiful off-grid house conveniently located just a few miles from Hilo. Very peaceful and beautiful surroundings. You are off-grid with solar power unless the sun is gone too long, then they run a generator for you. Off grid toilet, also. Most peaceful place we have stayed. Nice hosts."
