Arrow Brick House
Arrow Brick House is a beautiful, dog friendly, 12 acre property 5 minutes from Port Arthur Historic site and 3 Capes Walk.
We recommend a few days to really enjoy the property and explore the local area. The cabin stands alone in offering a wonderful boutique short stay holiday experience on the Tasman Peninsular. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Arrow Brick House is a secluded getaway, perfect for those who love romantic, wild places. The space Arrow Brick House is your perfect getaway to escape the world. Set on lush, green pastures in the rolling hills above the Port Arthur Historic site and over looking the start of the 3 Capes Track Walk , the thoughtfully appointed, two bedroom cabin awaits you.
The cozy main bedroom has views out to Tasman Island and a queen bed, while the other bedroom has a single bed looking out at the trees. You’ll stay warm with a crackling fire in the living room, as well as air conditioning and electric blankets on the beds. With a well equipped kitchen which includes all the essentials, as well as a comfy couch and a bookcase stocked with books, games you may not want to leave the house!
When you do venture out, enjoy the beautiful views from the deck and watch the wrens flitting around the lawn. The sunrise over the mountains is particularly lovely, especially when viewed from the glorious outdoor bath nestled amongst ferns. Along with some comfy verandah chairs, you’ll find beanbag lounges in the summer months and a fire pit in the winter months to help you make the most of the views. Depending on the time of year you may find herbs, daffodils or blossoms in the garden.
On a clear night you can see the millions of stars and the flash of the Tasman lighthouse (& maybe an aurora if you are very lucky!).
Best of all your best friend (your dog!) is welcome to join you on your adventure. The yard around the house is fully fenced to keep both your dog and the wildlife safe. You must notify us if you are bringing your dog with you.
You are a 5 min drive to the Historic site and all the sights and walks of the peninsula are easily accessible by car. Although it is only an hour and a half drive from Hobart you’ll feel a world away.
Overlooking day 1 of the Three Capes Track the cabin is the perfect way to start or end your walk. Spend a night or two relaxing in the bath and easing your aches with a glass of local Tasmanian wine. You can also do the day hike out to Cape Raoul to complete all 3 of the Capes.
Guest access Please ensure the gates near the house are kept closed so wallabies cant eat the garden at night. If you have a dog we ask you keep them within the large dog friendly fenced house area so that the wildlife can roam unconcerned around the rest of the property. The property is bordered by Gwen road at the front, the creek in the gully on the right hand side (as you look at the view from the verandah), the neighbors' driveway on the left, and the fence behind the paddock at the back of the house.
Other things to note 1. Mobile coverage is good with all providers at the house but elsewhere on the Peninsula it may be that only Telstra works. There is Wi-Fi at the property but no tv so bring your own device for movies. There is a Tivoli Bluetooth speaker for tunes. 2. The kitchen is well equipped and usually you’ll find oil, salt, pepper and herbs and spices. Milk is long life so you may want to bring your own. 3. The closest big supermarkets are at Sorell but there are 2 IGAs at Nubeena. You may wish to buy water to drink as the water is unfiltered rain water. 4. If driving from the north go through Sorrell rather than through the state forest on weingatta road unless you have a 4wd. 5. In the summer months you’ll need to make reservations for dinner as places book out. 6. Smoking is allowed outside only. Please use ashtray provided. 7. The fire pit is only available when we can be sure that bushfire is not a risk during the winter months and is not available over summer.
Additional rules: 1. Smoking outside only with doors and windows closed. Please use ashtray that is provided. 2. Being in the country this property suits those with a sense of adventure and a level of self sufficiency. 4. Although the property is 12 acres the noise carries well so please no loud music after 10pm to respect our neighbours. 5. Enquire re rates for any events Before you leave Turn things off Return keys Lock up
Additional requests 1. Please wash dishes and leave to dry on rack 2. Please let me know if anything was broken or damaged during your stay so we can replace for the next guests

A beautiful area and wonderful view. Great walks nearby, and up Lookout Rd. A well featured kitchen for those who like to cook. The outdoor bath was a hit with my wife.
Supremely peaceful stay and a beautiful house and property overlooking the west side of Tasman national park.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
The host came and spoke to us asking about our two dogs we had with us during our stay. He was somewhat upset and rude. We were told the hosts were fine with dogs, however we needed to let them know beforehand and us bringing them would attract an additional fee. This was not mentioned anywhere in the Expedia listing and we were taken quite aback as we had no knowledge of this rule.
The owner also told us he would lock up their pet chickens during our stay. Unfortunately they continued to return inside the fenced area, making it impossible to let our dogs roam outside. The owners dog also spent time outside close to the fence line. We wouldn’t suggest bringing your dog(s) unless they are fine with chickens and other dogs.
We also unknowingly reversed our car directly outside the property onto a landing/entrance area which contained some convict bricks. The host again was quite upset with us and abruptly asked us to move, we in turn sincerely apologised for this (a note to future guests to park on the gravel only).
These few points put a dampener on our stay which otherwise could have been very nice. A nice, private, quiet location.
