"I recently stayed at the Avalon in St. Pete and had a wonderful experience. The staff at the front desk were incredibly nice and welcoming. I appreciated the complimentary water and even free wine. "Since we arrived well before the 3:00 check-in time, I called from the airport to see if we could check in early. The clerk asked whether we had a pet (no) and whether we needed a handicapped room (no), but we were assigned a handicapped room anyway. That meant no surface in the bathroom for our toiletries and grooming items. The next day we asked about this and were given a regular room close by."
