"Beautiful building in the centre of town. Clean and comfortable but a little dated. Vehicle access was rather difficult due to the town’s roads."

"The hotel is in a fantastic location in the centre of Carlisle. A one minute walk from the station or if coming by car there is a free parking, even if the car park is tough to find at first. The rooms were spacious and the shower was powerful. The hotel is a little worn out but for our one night stay it wasn’t an issue. I would stay here again if in Carlisle."

"Lovely position and great staff, BUT shower in room did not work, breakfast greatly depleted after big group devoured it and not replaced. Greasy so called clean plates, tomatoes not cooked, no brown bread, no fruit, no decaf (though available on demand)"

"They hosted a function which we attended, The staff were very friendly and helpful, the self catering room was lovely and well equipped and suited myself with mobility needs, as it was on the ground floor and had it's on entrance with only a couple of stairs, once inside the room it was all on one level, We also dinned in the hotel and the food was lovely."

"We stayed at this gem of a pub on the way to Scotland. The staff are all super friendly and helpful too. The pub has excellent quality food and wines too. My husband had the steak pie, I had the fish and Chips both were outstanding. We liked it so much we booked for the following week on our way back. They are really dog friendly too! There is a beautiful dog walk around the village. Also there is a field right off the car park which is fabulous to let your dog run loose. The breakfast was...

There was no welcome gift as promised by Hotels.com and there was a bit of a mix up in that although I had already paid the hotel insisted I pay again, the £300 was refunded during my stay as it was the hotels mistake."

"This was a fantastic find for an overnight stay on our way to Glasgow, wish we could have stayed longer and explored the lake and surrounding areas. The bar and restaurant were very good and the couple who were managing the pub at the time of our stay were excellent hosts. There is plenty of parking and this very old pub has very modern rooms. Would defiantly recommend and stay again. "
