Carrington House Hotel

2/10 Terrible

"When we arrived we tried to find a space as we drove round and there was a car parked over 2 spaces I went in to inform the hotel and she said she would send someone out, we parked out the front in the road and when we returned she said they have a big car so there allowed. The staff members attitude was awful. She then changed our room and we were put in the basement in a small chostrphobic room with no proper window. The room was dirty, not enough towels, a cracked mirror and to finish it off with 30 degree heat the heating was on. I informed reception that the room wasn't what I booked she said oh well we're full. The bed was 2 singles pushed together again not what we asked for. The whole experience was awful, we then had someone set the fire alarm off at 6am when we left the building the staff member laughed and said its ok just someone in the shower. The only half decent part was breakfast which was hot and eatable. I wouldn't recommend at all"

"Terrible room - stuck in the 'Russell Wing' which was like a dungeon. Below street level, noisy, dated and chipped furniture, no full length mirror, small room and very disappointing for almost £200 for 1 night. Nauseating smell from the corridor outside. Buffet breakfast so-so with cheap processed bread, cheap beans and awful coffee. Only received 2 stars because of its views across the bay. Cannot recommend. Wish we'd chosen anywhere else."

"My wife and I had the best time. We celebrated for her 40th birthday and Sandbanks itself is the best place, the hotel is the best location, the beach is a few metres away and the ferry is also a few metres away. Highly recommend this hotel, the perfect location and the staff were brilliant too. Thank and hope to be back soon"

"Excellent location with a seafront view and within walking distance of the town centre. The staff were extremely helpful — even though we arrived at midnight, they still did their best to help us find a parking space and guide us to our room. Very impressive service! The elegant décor reflects Marriott’s quality and standards beautifully. Thank you — we will definitely come back if we travel to Bournemouth again."

"We’ve had bad experiences before with twin beds pushed together instead of a proper double bed, so this was especially disappointing. We came to celebrate our 21st anniversary and were allocated two single beds joined together. During the night the beds separated, leaving a gap in the middle, and we were both woken up after falling into it. We both struggled to sleep and ended up with back pain the next morning. We informed the manager in the morning. She apologised and offered Prosecco, which we appreciated, but unfortunately it didn’t really make up for the discomfort and disruption to what was meant to be a special anniversary celebration. We left feeling very disappointed."

"Clean room, sky bar has closed which we didn’t realise ( our fault for not checking ) Breakfast was a disaster, hotel couldn’t cope with the number of people, ran out of fruit and other breakfast items, food items that were there were poor ….. terrible orange juice ….. we gave up and ate breakfast outside the hotel. Staff were helpful and apologetic, but for a major chain that charges premium rates for its rooms the planning was clearly very poor. We wouldn’t stay again."

"Very well maintained and clean and tidy. Very few staff but they were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a good English breakfast with cereals and fresh fruit. It was a pity that there was not dinner as well but being a small hotel it would not be economical to have a chef employed for the small number of guests. We were directed to the excellent 4* Meridian hotel opposite where you can book a table, at your expense of course. Parking was sufficient for off peak times but was assured that extra parking could be made available if necessary. An enjoyable stay."
