"We really liked the location and we had an interior balcony with a view into the courtyard and the pool to our left. You are right in the middle of the action at this hotel with street parades, etc. but yet it is quiet enough in the interior that sleep for the non-partier is an option.
My son chose the more expensive Bourbon street balcony room and boy was that a huge let down! The bathroom looks nothing like the photos on the websites for Expedia and for the Royal Sonesta. There were plumbing issues and the shared balcony was a problem with neighbors not respecting that. They did switch my son's room without much of a fuss but their attitude wasn't good and we weren't getting a refund for the difference...as they said they weren't responsible for third party photos although I said that we relied on THEIR photos and they were the exact same as the ones on Expedia.
There wasn't a good basic dining room for breakfast but you could get food from one of the many restaurants /bars that were a part of the hotel or the coffee shop....but I really like to sit down and have eggs for breakfast. Cafe Beignet across the street was good for breakfast.
The advertised $130 tour credit is practically a fraud! You have to book with them to get a 25% discount but they outsource all these tours and you can buy them for less even if after the discount plus they add on all sorts of fees that the other vendors don't. Thus, don't include this in your pricing when hotel shopping."
