"Lovely period hotel with good decor and clean throughout; staff also friendly and helpful. Only minor gripes were noisy creaking floorboards in room above and inability to get on the Wi-Fi. Gave a low ecofriendly score as unable to reduce room temperature (other than opening a window) and shower gel and shampoo in individual disposable bottles. Great place to stay though :-)"

"As for the hotel and location it’s great spot ! For sleeping to hot , Train noise and pillows lumpy not nice at all . One receptionist a bad attitude on arrival it was 2pm with the word WHAT . I said we would like to book in answer ! NOT TILL 3PM . Shoot me down ! "

"The Great North Hotel is a 3yr old sympathetically, spacious and modern extension to the Three Mile which clearly is a well established venue at the heart of the Gosforth community. Located on the outskirts of Newcastle close to Jesmond & Gosforth high street it is an ideal location well served by 4 buses into the 'Toon' (c£7.50 rtn for 2). The metro is a short walk away. Booking online with Expedia was a doddle. Cheap too with an excellent member discount (£118 ro basis) for a Fri/Sat stay. ...

"We visit Durham at least once a month & try to stay at the same place all the time however we stayed here on this occasion, as usual place appeared to be closed. Very nice room & clean. Only issue I had was pillows weren’t very comfortable & the noise of a drill going in room next door just after 9am on day of departure, was a bit of a shock. We Would stay again though. "

"Being a Thursday the hotel is relatively quiet but that’s not the hotels fault and I’m here for 3 days but only been here for a couple of hours, better reviewing after I check out but I’ve given the star ratings based on the hotel quality "

"Country feel in urban environment. Nice building and room but limited facilities. We only had breakfast but it wasn't exceptional: we had a long delay in it arriving...and cooked breakfast was cold."

"Absolutely spot on, although the rooms are a little dated they are super clean and spacious. The evening meal choice is great, and the quality is excellent and not over priced. Ideal hotel if you’re visiting the museum as it’s only a 5 minute drive away. Overall we had a brilliant weekend."
