Such beautiful accommodations right in the old part of Potenza. Our hosts were amazing.

I was looking for an authentic place to stay in Muro Lucano and Nonna's was it! You can walk to many places but know that there are many steps and hills. Grocery store a minute walk down the street.

We loved our stay in this Masseria. The staff, the room and the premises were outstanding and I must emphasize their breakfast table,which was included in my price, it was amazing and delicious, the staff went all out of their way to please us and make us feel wonderful during our stay!! Beatrice gave us great recommendations for Matera and was very attentive and eager to make us feel welcome. I would recommend this Masseria without hesitation!! Wonderful and beautiful place!!

Exceptional!

We arrived late on a Sunday in a heavy downpour. The town is very remote and there were zero options to eat anywhere or not even any supermarket. The owner originally said that his restaurant was closed on Sundays, but then felt bad for us and opened it just for us. The meal was great and he only charged us 53 euros for a dinner with wine. That was very reasonable although he could've taken advantage of our situation and charged us significantly more. The town though has nothing to offer other...

Our room was done very beautifully and artistically and overlooked the Sassi Barisano for a great view. The bathroom is American sized and the room contained a large closet and cute balcony. It sits on a main piazza just a couple minutes to any of the major sites. Mimmo was an excellent host and even if we said the room didn’t need to be cleaned since we were staying only two nights, he had it cleaned anyway. We enjoyed our stay!

Great location to get from car park to hotel, store luggage then explore Matera on foot. (We saw a number of guests struggling up and down stairs in the Ild Town with large bags.) Hotel was “luxury level” clean!! And very well appointed!!

This is an amazing family owned and family run hotel…we met the whole family and they are amazing! Great hotel…beautiful grounds…great pool…and amazing restaurant/food…find an excuse to go to Potenza so you can stay there!

It is understated how amazing the location is. I cannot imagine a better place to stay. The room was impeccable. Everything was pristine and truly beautiful. The pictures don’t do it justice. Everything felt new. The staff were really helpful. They coordinated parking and check-in. I highly recommend this hotel if you plan to stay in Matera.

We had an amazing stay at the Cenobio Hotel! It can be a bit tricky to find if it's your first time in Matera, and you can't drive directly to the hotel. Plus, there are some steps to navigate both downhill and uphill. Knowing this from other reviews, we contacted the hotel before our arrival. We had an excellent stay here. The family (owners) are both warm and friendly, and the views are amazing. The room and bath are both spacious with a screened window for fresh air. Breakfast was typical Italian sweet breakfast, but they pivoted to accommodate my dairy allergy. Their on site restaurant is open for dinner on the weekends, and the food they served was delicious- my husband especially enjoyed the house made cheese and yogurt. This is a unique property in the middle of antic city Matera. Beautiful views from the windows to die for, location, etc. Hotel is in excellent condition, furniture, room design, etc. Breakfast is very good. Great options for fine food in the area. You need to be prepare to walk a lot in the city of Matera with steps up and down including to and from hotel. If you can not walk - it is not for you. Parking (free or paid) is on the street within 10-15 min or so walking. Finding can be a problem....

We were in the wellness suite, room 1007. What a fantastic room! Carved out of a cave, with four levels, including a huge hot tub and a sauna, the room was so unique. The bedroom is on the main level, with the bathroom being about 3 steps down, the hot tub about 10 steps down from there and the sauna on the lowest level about 5 more steps down. You will never find another one like this. The staff was very helpful in finding our way around and addressing any needs that we had during this stay....
